GMing: What If We Say "Yes" To Everything?

I think that players need something to bounce off of or friction in their role playing otherwise they will lose interest. If the game is just let's make up whatever silly story we want with no restrictions or guidelines, and the players figure that out, I think they will lose interest. Kind of like playing a hard game and using a cheat code, you've defeated the reason to have a challenge and therefore play the game.
