Gnomes and Item Creation

Give him a 12 int and I can, what else is he gonna do as a wizard with? But consider it is perfectly reasonable for you to make exceptions too if you really want to do that sorta thing. It fits a different style of DnD than the "core" in the strictest sense, but why give up an idea for flavor you like because of one rule.

Make him a Sor3 with a charisma of 10, thus only letting him cast 0-level spells.

Give him low Int and Wis as well. His family has always been chimney sweeps, so he's a chimney sweep too - he's not bright enough or strong-willed enough to want to get out of the profession.

Spend his one skill rank per level (since he's got a low int) on Profession: Chimneysweep.

There you go, a spellcasting chimneysweep.

Just don't ask me where he gets the money for the magic brooms. I doubt that there's a lot of cash in being a chimneysweep.

Chim-chimminy, chim-chimminy, chim-chim, cheree...

There's certainly precedent for a chimney-sweep being on good terms with a celestial... maybe she could make his magic chimney brushes for him?
