4e is very kit-bash friendly.

Looks like it, which is why I'm so looking forward to mocking up an Incarnate and Spirit Shaman class (my current campaign demands it), as soon as I get my grubby little carnie hands on the 4th Ed PHB!

One of the first things I'll be doing as part of my unofficial 4e Dragonlance conversion is Krynnish gnomes. I don't expect them to be anything like the ones in the MM, though.

Unfortunately, yes – a book of great intentions, but poor implementation, IMO.

Yeah, I didn't like the monster classes

Actually, I feel that away about 3rd Ed, period - great on paper/in theory, but in practice/implementation, not so much

I feel this way about most of the 3e supplements from WOTC save the dedicated monster books, and about three or four other books.

Unfortunately, from what has been revealed to date about 4e, I don't see there being much of a change They have addressed several issues that,imo, needed to be addressed, but most of the imechanical solutions leave a lot to be desired (again imo).
