Wait a minute, Godzilla beat King Kong in round 1 and King Kong beat Godzilla in round 2. And how can King Kong be a god?!

I believe it's based on the fact that the island natives worshipped him. However, if I remember correctly, there was no overall victor in "King Kong vs. Godzilla" - and the Japanese filmmakers did it that way on purpose, so both the Japanese fans and the American fans could feel that "their" monster won.

That kind of depends. The "original" Godzilla was killed by the oxygen destroyer. The subsequent movies were about another monster of the same type, also called Godzilla.
Godzilla was also killed in "Godzilla vs. Desteroyah," when his atomic heart basically entered meltdown. Fortunately, the radiation of his explosive death was absorbed by his son, who then became the "new" Godzilla.
And then the movies after that all seemed to take place in alternate dimensions where none of the events of the previous movies took place.

By the way, does anybody know when "Godzilla: Final Wars" will be released on DVD in the US? I've been waiting for it.

According to Amazon, Godzilla: Final Wars comes out on December 13th.
And yes, it's an awesome movie. Completely unlike any other Godzilla movie, and goofy as all hell, but a lot of fun.

Excellent. I never got to see it at the theaters (was it even released here?), so I'm really looking forward to it. Time to update the old Christmas list.
