"Going Down The Road To Hell!" Is Announced!

12 PCs? Shark, how many do you normally play with?

Righteous Detherean empire, vast legions, sounds very Valorrean.

Congratulations on being published. Good luck and best wishes.

Congrats, my friend!! I shall raise a frosty pint of Bass Ale in your honor this evening. I've been away from the Boards for a couple of weeks, so I'm sorry if I've missed any other good news on your end.

Tell Chris that Nicole and I said, "hello." Take care, and keep up the good work!!

Greetings!

Quickbeam!:) What have you and Nicole been up to recently? I've been very busy myself as well! Write me soon!

Thankyou everyone! Some of you--Melkor, Voadam, Quickbeam--I haven't seen much of lately. I miss you guys. I hope that you like it--keep in mind it is a trilogy, too!:)

Voadam, as for 12 characters, well, that was a figure derived from the minimum needed characters--player characters, cohorts, NPC's, and such. Some discussion is provided for groups of smaller or larger groups. As for myself, I usually have about 12-25 characters (made up of player characters and npc's.)

CHOMP!:)

Semper Fidelis,

SHARK

Hey SHARK, congratulations!

I'll keep my eyes out for it.

Heck, if I never used it as written, I'd still like to check it for reference for your tips on how to keep a gaggle of Epic Level PC's busy!

12 characters of 20th level??? My god.. I can see each encounter taking several days, considering all the feats, spells, items, and options that will be available to so many high powered PCs. Doesn't seem doable unless you want to spend a year completing the module. :)

Greetings!

Well, I'll give you some real examples of what I often deal with. Let's say you have 4 players, each playing 3 characters, that are all 20th level. Plus, there are 4 DM-characters, all 20th level. That's 16 20th level characters, not to mention all of the cohorts and followers they have. Hardly a party of 4 people though, huh?

Even with only four players and four characters, at 20th level, they are sure to have many powerful cohorts traveling with them, thus raising the actual numbers of the party in question. That makes a big difference in a module, and the module is designed with such cohorts and such in mind, as opposed to just four people alone.:)

Thank you Zenon! I hope you like it!:)

Semper Fidelis,

SHARK

Congrats, Shark. I really hope it does well.

That said, I guess I am going to have to play devil's advocate on a issue that I am certain may be a factor.

12 - that is twelve 20th level epic characters?!?! I really don't know if that is going to be a negative factor against it when it goes on sale.

I got players who are not comfortable playing more than one character - too much to handle in roleplaying. I've got some who can handle two characters. I think all of my players would be far too challenged to do three characters apiece, justice.

Having NPCs make up the rest of the party if people play one or two character apiece is not going to be a well received option for a (hopefully this is not a sweeping generalization) majority of DMs. I, for one, can't run more than 4 persistant NPCs in a party and run the play session for 4-6 hours at the same time without going squirrelly and ending up with a migraine.

Any suggestions for those of us who are interested in the adventure but who have players who don't want to play two or three character each and a DM who doesn't want to get committed to the psych ward after running 4-8 NPCs to fill in the party ranks for 6-8 hours per play session for X sessions.

Not having read this adventure (duh!), but...

General advice for such a situation: Higher-level PCs!
