D&D 4E Going/Not Going to 4E which edition did you start with?

I started off with the basic boxed sets in 79, then moved onto advanced shortly after it came out. Later gave 2nd E a try but only after a couple of years left DnD and did not play it again other than a few short games played with the AD&D 1e books until 3e came out. Ran it mostly till about 3 years ago and now only play it. Was looking forward to 4e at first but the more I hear the more I dislike. I am still hoping things will change and i will like the new edition but at the moment it seems unlikely sadly. So this might be my 2nd ed all over again.

Started with 2nd Edition. Hesitated for some time before switching to 3.0. Alomost as soon as I switched 3.5 hit the shelves, so I was lucky :) . Now I'm definitely going to switch to 4E.

AD&D 2nd (6 years) -> D&D 3.5 (skipped 3.0 and played 5 years) -> C&C (1 year) -> AD&D 1st (half an year) -> OD&D 1 year and probably more to follow. Very happy with the edition.

I think I won't play 4E. But I'll buy the books and check it out. It's too early to be sure. I haven't liked most of the previews. But I'll want to see the whole picture before judging the edition. I'm 22 years old. So I don't choose editions because of nostalgia or grognardism. I choose them because I find them better.

i started with 2ed in 1990 ..went to 3rd never did 3.5 i did use some of the class changes and such though.i have no plans to ever go to 4e its just to diff from what i have grown to like in d&d i even have the red books i got a few years back in a yardsale if i really want simple.

Started with a basic boxed set early 90s, added some AD&D in bits as we could afford books (teens at the time), then migrated to 3e reluctantly, but learned to love it's consistency more than ANYTHING the older versions had. The SRD enabled us to move to 3.5 pretty quickly, and although we were skeptical of some of the changes at first (we LIKED facing) over all it was a major improvement.

I am all for 4e, as the previews have suggested that most, if not all, the problems I've had with 3.5 are going to be fixed. There's only one or two things I'm not happy about.

I started with 2e and the skills&powers. Switched to 3e two years later and moved to 3.5 when it was released.

Awaiting, eagerly, the release of 4e.

Started in 1982 with the Basic Set (the Keep on the Borderlands one, not the Bargle one.) Have played 1e, 2e, 2e with Skills and Powers ( :eek: )3e, 3.5e, and I will be switching to 4e. I may not switch immediately depending on how easily I feel I can convert however much I have left to play of Age of Worms by the time the books are out. My next "new" game will be 4e for sure.
