Good Drow

And If you had bothered to read the whole thread you would understand why I don't like good Drow. Because in all reality there are more good ones than bad ones. Pay attention.

Of course, I guess the entire cities full of evil drow scattered below the surface of Oerth and Toril and so forth don't exist "in all reality", huh? The legions of faceless minions that are held back the races of good? I guess Drizzt and a small outpost under Waterdeep sure outnumber all of those, huh?

Riiiiight. Of course.

*edited out some really pointless inflamitory stuff*

First for Redleg,

Maybe you should practice what you preach and go back and read all my replies. I am not a wannabe. As I said, I would not run a good drow, I think that is going to far. I would prefer a CN drow that maybe over the life of the campign could move in a more good direction, but that would have to be roleplayed.

You do know what that is, roleplaying, don't you?

Now for Felix and Agback, ghoughpteighbteau is pronounced as potato!

potato-ghoughpteighbteau (p as in the gh in hiccough, o as in the ough in though, t as in the bt in debt, o as in the eau in bureau)

And....

And before you try your little trump-care flame, I've read every post in this thread. It's some of the best reading I've had since the whole Lancelut de Luc thread/flame died down over at RPG.net. Thanks!

Tsyr,

I am glad I could start something that is entertaining while being informative on the logic/time warping thingy you mentioned.

Ghoti: Potatoe with an "E"? I just don't see it.;)

Tsyr, Ninjajester:
Easy tigers! There are more civilized ways to admonish people than ridiculing them.

Redleg:
You know, I agree with most of what you are saying but I was not thrilled at the way you said it. Especially when you responded to exasperating people who kept bringing up belabored points; but capitalizing words never helps.

Drizz't Wannabees:
DnD is a game that taxes your imagination. I think that playing a carbon-copy of Drizzt is a way of saving your imagination (for whatever reason). I personally like to craft my characters from scratch.

Good Drow Societies:
Bunk. In the underdark they would be the first target for all of the other evil drow. On the surface they would be a big fat target for everybody looking for a scapegoat. They just couldn't live down the stigma. Total bunk.

What might be an interesting campaign is the aftermath of a war of that (freshly dead) good drow society versus a Good aligned kingdom ridding thier surface of drow who was allied with an evil drow city who wanted to eliminate the good drow to please their goddess (or whatever).

Damn. And I'm even reading the books. But what is the question?

Ok, my turn now, what does

Aufenthaltsgenhmigungsverlangerungsantragsformular*

mean?

*Note the plethora of "g"'s. Must be German.

It is German. And it should be written "Aufenthaltsgenehmigungsverlängerungsantragsformular". It basically is the request form you have to fill out if you want to renew your permission to legally keep your place of residence in the country.

Good drow societies? Eh. If there are enough good drow in an area, they might hang out together just as well - kinda makes sense, since no-one else likes them anyway, LOL! :D

Drizzt? I don't hate teh Drizzit - I just dislike it when somebody just has to create a drow just like him (regardless of alignment; evil, while being a bit more imaginative, isn't an alignment I prefer a PC to have).
A non-Drizzt drow PC is not a problem in itself, though - and why should it?

I do hate Wulfgar, though. And I can't say that I really like Drizzt, either; it's just that I don't hate him...

(Sniff) Isn't German a beautiful language?

;)

Thank God! I'm not alone. I quite like Salvatore's stories, but I do find Wulfgar to be really annoying. The muscle-strapped lummox somehow manages to excel at all things. Indeed he's a veritable superman (didn't the DM question just how many 16+ attributes that this character presented?).

Alas his fate was better than he deserved. ;)

In the campign I am playing in now, my DM has 2 drow socities, one good and one evil. Right now I am playing a Svirfneblin who was a slave of the evil drow. My charecter has trouble telling the difference between good and evil drow (and first time came accross some good drow almost attacked them (but was grappled by the party fighter thank God).

It has this whole back ground story for the campaign that even I don't know about (so its easy not to meta game in that department). Basically good drow are elves with dark vision 60, and evil drow are exactly the same as drow.

Basically all I know is some drow renounced their evil ways and went to the surface, and lost all their special abilities, where as the evil drow remained underground.

No one is playing a good drow PC (I did for the first 2 sessions until he died, but only played such a charecter due to DM pushing).

It is more legalese than German... especially since modern German gets more and more english these times. :)

I would argue that compound words reflect the essential nature of German! What would German be without words like "Donaudampfschiffahrtsgesellschaftkapitän"?

I think that it is especially important in times of increasing Americanisation like these to preserve the essential beauty of the German language!
