Come to think of it though, using Slavatore here again, that strict of a hierarchy strikes me as decidedly "lawful" though, dontch think? I am not saying the should not be CE (my whole point was good v evil, not catagories of evil).

Problem is that the "strict" structure... well... isn't. I mean, come on... assassination is a valid, accepted, encouraged, and applauded (Provided you succeed and no one can prove it) method of advancing in rank. That can't be lawful, no matter how you stack it. Wiping out an entire house, children, slaves, and all is a valid way of moving your entire house up in the system. That's not very strict and lawful either, to me. People that the people in power don't like for whatever reason become sacrifices, or turned into driders. It's an authority built on terror and force, not actualy loyalty or honor.

So what would an example of a LE society be?

And bear in mind for your example I stopped reading most fantasy novels in about 1996...

Your ideas have a kernel, but just that. Of course, that gets buried because of the presentation.

I still don't know why someone else's good drow society in their game bothers you. Think of it this way: a good drow society prevents the proliferation of Drizz't clones because there's no evil society to flee from.

Familiar with Star Trek?

The Romulan Empire.

Yes, some of it is built on force... but not all of it. And assassination, while it happens, isn't encouraged or supported.

See, here you all go again misquoting me.

All I asked was why everyone wanted to play good Drow.

I never said ANYTHING about home-brewed settings either.

I use one that is heavily Norse-Mythos influenced and therefore adjusted as such.

I just pointed out that the published stuff followed suit with the early '90s Drizzt wannabe movement.

err, no, not big into Star Trek.

Then again if the society accepted the assassination as part of the system...?

OK, we're getting on to another thread that I am sure has been done here before...

OK, fine. They are CE. Whatever.

Self-preservation is still a staple of being evil right?

My ideas are still valid.

Geez dude, I was just trying to help. Sorry, but you just lost somebody who was morally supporting you.

Um, sorry? This was offensive?

All I said was OK, so they're CE, but they are still evil, which makes self-preservation a high-priority which makes teaming up with lesser thans viable as long as it suits the Drow's purpose. I just did not think I had to type all that up again.

BTW, stay away from Cyberpunk boards if you think that statement was ill-intended...which by the way, it was not in any way shape or form.

Hey Redleg,

I dont mean to make this sound inflamatory. However, your points are good, but your articulation, meaning the language you use to express them is inflamatory. Remember that people cannot hear your tone of voice here. Certain words have different tones when read. Look at what you write and then read it back to yourself before you submit. You may find that you are writing what you want to say in a way you do not intend to.

Aaron.

Not ill-intended, merely rude. Read it as if you were blowing me off and what I said was frivilous. That's how I read it considering your previous posts.

Trust me, I do eschew Cyberpunk boards.:)
