Good methods for denying dex bonus?

I'm playing a fighter who recently took the Expert Tactician feat. Naturally, I'd like to get as much use out of it as possible. So the question is: for those of you who've taken this feat, or anyone with ideas on the matter, what is a good way of getting that extra partial action?

I'm aware of some of the ways: winning initiative is good for the first turn. A ring of blinking helps. Blinding your opponent via spells or alchemical conconctions. Being invisible. All of these have their problems. Are there any more suggestions out there?

What sourcebook is this in? Anyway couldn't you just use a bluff check? You could make it a variable DC based on the person faced in combat. Make the DC lower if facing low intelligence humanoid monsters or undead. Higher if animals or fighter-types. Just some random ramblins:D
 

Bluff does work, unfortunately it takes an action, for no extra net actions. Fighters unfortunately don't have bluff as a class skill either.

There is a combat option in the Kingdom of Kalamar Players Guide called "unbalance". You take a full attack action to unbalance a foe, removing his dex bonus until his next action. Trading a full attack action for a partial action is also inefficient :-)

There are a variety of feats in the Song and Silence book that work to generate loss of Dexterity for enemies. Quicker than the Eye, and Flick of the Wrist are two off the top of my head.

In the campaign I play in my PC is quite good a wrestling. Whenever our group encounters a tough foe I go in and grapple him, thus denying him his dex bonus to everyone but me. Then the party rogues have a field day slinging arrows and sticking the baddie with sharp objects, all the while getting those yummy sneak attack dice.

In your case you would get the extra action from the expert tactician feat.

So if you have another party member willing to wrassle a foe...........
 

Well, the following "Conditions" are listed in the DMG as conditions that cause the creature to loose Dex to AC.

Blinded, Cowering, Flat-footed, Grappled, Helpless (Bound, Held, sleeping, paralyzed, unconcious, incapacitated), Stunned
(from DMG, condition summary section)

So any spells or tactics that you can find that will cause the target to have any of these conditions will cause him to loose his Dex to AC.

You hit the big one on the nose in your first post. Be invisible (Improved Invisibility).

Works just about every time, maybe not all the time, but often enough. :)

MadWand, I'm not sure about the core books, but you might check out Relics & Rituals. I believe I saw a spell or two in there that caused their targets to lose their Dex bonus to AC.

1. Take a level of gladiator, and a level of rogue (expert tacitan is mostly wasted w/o a sneak attack).

2. Pump all your skill points for those levels into bluff.

3. Get hasted.

4. Then you use your partial action from haste to do an improved feint. Get a free attack against no dex, sneak attacking. Then do a full attack.

Or:

Team up with:

A monk with stunning fist (or take monk levels)

A bard with daze (or ....)

A spellsword (I think that's them - they can daze as a free attack if they hit).

Mainly, you'll need team work, and sneak dice, to really get any effect from this.
 


Daze does not deny dex

From the spell describtion
"The dazed subject is not stunned (so attackers get no special advantage against him), but he can’t
move, cast spells, use mental abilities, etc."

so not sneak attack or extra parcial action from expert tactician
