Good Night, Captain

Captain Kangaroo is dead.

Somehow, a single entry in the "dead celeb" topic seems inadequate. While captainkangaroo.com is a registered domain, there seems to be no content. bobkeeshan.com is held by a cybersquatter. There are no videos or DVDs of the original Captain Kangaroo at amazon.com. Has the world forgotten about Captain Kangaroo, Bunny Rabbit, and Mr Moose?

I'll never forget the Captain, having grown up with him back in the 60's. Mr. Green Jeans was Mr. Gray Jeans to me because all we had was a B&W set. I still have several Captain Kangaroo record albums which I've played for my kids even though they had no idea who he was.

Goodnight, Mr. Kangaroo :( I grew up watching the show also and I loved it. It is always sad to loose such a great person...

Most of the younger members of this board probably don't know about Captain Kangaroo, other than having heard the name in passing. For a show that was at the same level of popularity - and impact - as Sesame Street for kids in its long TV history, it's strange to hear so little about it these days.

Don't forget Mr. Greenjeans and Simon, everything he draws comes true.

I feel sad that our children, on average, spend more time in front of the tube and don't have anything with content that is near the quality that Captain Kangaroo offered.

"Now you know my name is Simon, and I like to do draw-rings."

I had completely forgotten that was from Captain Kangaroo!!!
