Most of my faves have already been listed, but I don't think anybody mentioned the Bad Brains yet. Check 'em out, especially their older stuff.

A lot of my favorites have already been listed as well, but I'll add a few more I can think of off the top of my head...

Propagandhi - Older stuff is best, but newer stuff is still good.
TSOL - Make sure it's the band's original lineup (albums Thoughts Of Yesterday, Dance With Me, Beneath The Shadows, I Disappear)
88 Fingers Louie - They broke up a while ago, but if you can get your hands on Behind Bars, its one of the best punk albums I think.
Pinhead Gunpowder - Very similar to Green Day's first couple albums, mainly cuz Billie Joe is in the band
Operation Ivy - I can't believe no one's listed them yet...
Face To Face - Older stuff only...anything after their self-titled album is a waste of time IMO.
Fifteen - Really great stuff, Jeff Ott puts his soul into his music.
Avail - Hardcore punk rock with some dixie influences.
J Church - Really hard to describe, I don't like all their stuff but most of it is pretty good.
Strung Out - Skate-punk similar to Pennywise and Face To Face.
Mindless Self Indulgence - Not purely punk rock, heavy industrial influences, but they're great to listen (just make sure you have a sense of humor if you do!)
Bouncing Souls - Great music, don't take themselves too seriously, songs like "These Are The Quotes From Our Favorite 80s Movies".
Snuff/Guns N Wankers - Really unique sound, can't think of another band like them.
Tilt - Again, try to stick with their older stuff. Their first album (Play Cell) was their best.

The Damned (great stuff, varies between really gothic tunes and hardcore punk)
Subhumans (agree with the poster above, one of the best bands ever)

Great punk imho includes:

The Dead Kennedeys
MDC ('Millions of Dead...' the C stands for different things on different albums)
DI (my fave: Cut the Line)
The Straw Dogs (Young Fast Iranians is a personal fave)

The Damned is where punk meets goth. Very cool if you like either punk or goth; extra special coolness if you like both. I myself am much more into goth, but eh, it's all about taste, innit?

The film Repo Man has been called "the first punk movie." Do all you fans of punk agree? What do you think of the soundtrack?

When I think of punk, I think of the Sex Pistols and the Dead Kennedys (already mentioned in the thread), but I was never really into punk. I was more of a New Wave fan.

I get a kick out of M.D.C. (note that it's not the same as Rifts damage ). John Wayne Was a Nazi is a great tune, as is SKINHEAD.
Cut the Line - I'm not familiar with that tune, unless you're referring to Youth In Asia ("Pull the plug, let me die, euthanasia in my mind), in which case, that is one of my favorite D.I. tunes.

I don't know, which came out first - Repo Man or Surburbia? Repo Man is an interesting movie. I love the Repo Man soundtrack.
Pablo Picasso was never called an . . .

Operation Ivy - I can't believe no one's listed them yet...

I would have listed them, except I don't much care for Op Ivy. I like Freeze Up, and a couple other tunes, but I just couldn't get into them that much. I do like the Downfall tunes I've heard (all 2 or 3 that exist), and I think it's a shame that that project didn't last beyond a couple of songs.

Yeah, that's the one! I never knew the real title; it's a good example of how punk rock works- you find it on old, unlabeled casettes that your pals pass around more than you find it record stores.

I just picked up The Damned: Smash It Up The Anthology 1976-1987, and it's an excellent overview of the majority of the bands career. A song or two I would have left off, and maybe a couple I would have liked to see, but overall, an excellent couple of CDs from one of the best (maybe the best?) UK punk bands.
