Good spell to cast via Miracle for my evil cleric?

Has the Cleric fought the Elf before? If she knows how he fights somewhat, she should know if he goes full CE, he won't be getting that many hits on her. And it was like DC 16 to spellcraft Rhino's Rush, so she should know it was mainly due to the spell. She should stay at half health or more at all times, sure. Just saying, if he's not making himself a threat in a round, don't treat him like one. And besides, you already indicated Forcecage would work, so the point is moot, right? :)

She has a basic scouting report that he is difficult to hit in melee with weapons or with touch spells, but that he is usually not nearly as deadly as the dwarf or goliath in terms of damage output and just overall "hitting".

And, most likely I'd go with Forcecage. Of course, I think the elf goes before her in the next round, so if he misses 4 out of 5 attacks (hasted), she may just ignore him. But, if he connects 3+ times, it may be Forcecage, as that would force the sorcerer or psion to Disintegrate the forcecage instead of dispelling the buffs on the evil psion or rakshasa abjurant champion, or finishing off the pyroclastic dragon.

Well if you think the forcecage will hold and he doesn't have teleportation items (idiot!) just throw some area spells that deal damage at him. Like... uhm... let's see cleric spells.. I guess unholy storm, maximized... Or an antimagic field. The barred version should just allow it without disrupting the cage.

Well ok assume your character has lots of UMD somehow and a couple of good arcane scrolls then you could throw in cloudkill, acidfog and incindiary cloud.

For other options ehm maybe hit him with waves of exhaustion. That should at least lower his attack and maybe hamper it's movement. Yeah UMD scroll of disjunction seems like a good awnser. BUt then again, it's a good awnser against most pc's.

Flame Strike or Fire Storm, as long as he's not noticeably resistant to Fire, are handy clerical direct-damage spells.

Good thread - I would go with Forcecage or Firestorm. Radiant Assault is another idea, as you get the damage effect and then the unhittable dude would have to make a save or be stunned or dazed, I believe.

Not to mention that the mental image of the cleric of an evil god -- someone who radiates enough evil to literally stun those attempting to detect it who are of low level -- invoking, via prayer to his deity, the ability to smite a paladin with the power of light is inherently hilarious. :)

Not a bad idea, but I think that if he made his Fort save on Radiant Assault, he would still be up & running. Forcecage may be the best choice, especially if I can use the bigger, barred cage to maybe trap one more PC. Edited to add: also, the image of a paladin of freedom in a cage is likely appealing to a priestess of a god of tyranny & slavery.

My evil cleric is airborne and is engaged in one-on-one melee with probably the most difficult PC for her in my group of players... he is an elf fighter/paladin of freedom/champion of Corellon.

Personally, as a DM I do not like player vs player combat. A lot of spells require you to make a save rather than have a good AC, which could help. Another thing you could do is cast one of the summon dragon spells, but only if your prepared to drop a LOT of loot. A spell that stuns/sleeps/paralyzes him would cause him to fall and be helplessed, dealing damage and allowing you to use miracle to attack with a finger of death spell (touch attack, but the opponents touch AC is -dex)

Finger of Death is not a touch attack, and neither is Flesh to Stone. Both are Fortitude saves, but automatically hit. The players have done a great job making their saves since hitting level 10/11 or so. I've hit them with Greater Command, Finger of Death (a few times), Disintegrate, Mass Suggestion, Dominate Person, and a mind flayer's mind blast and not one failed save in the bunch (oddly, a couple of them with great Fort saves missed against a horned devil's stunning spiked chain...but that was about it)
