Good vs Evil: D&D Wargaming

You can't find the dragon where the dragon was last seen. It decended into the city, killing a baker's dozen innocents, and then it vanished. It's location is unknown.

Three rounds pass.

And then the dragon resurfaces, comming up in the MIDST of your army, from out of the very ground. It breathes it's horrible breath weapon into your ranks. 20 of your men (Infantry- Fighter1) are struck... but only 11 succumb. Those that do fall, turn dry as a bone in an instant... it is as if all the water was washed out of them by the attack.

Did he disappear before my action? I still want to carry out my plan as soon as possible, and I can see invisible if it becomes ethereal.

Yes, he excaped all of you. The trick isn't etherialness... the trick is that the litte (well, large, actually) bugger is hiding underground. You, unfortunately, do not currently posess that ability.

It is a full two minutes before the next strike occures, though you won't hear of it until a little later, when the panic sets in. He has brought himself up in a different part of town, passed into private homes, and drained the life away of those there. Brief appearances in the streets alert the neighbors, who dutifully start the screaming. The dragon then returns beneath the surface of the earth.

The city makes its moral check. No riots start, though people are quite frankly terrified.

Deep within the Green Isle, the forest breathes.

The Voice of Nature awakens, and receives the message of approaching war.

Isten takes up the conch of sending and contacts Tian. The North prepares for war. Spread word and rally the troops, the forest will be needed again. We will be ready. It's happening again.

Yes m'lady. They'll be ready to march within a day. But who is our enemy this time?

That, not even I know yet, but I'll do what I can to discover it.

With that, Athko, and the Green Isle prepare for war.

Isten prepares a Word of Recall (set to the tactics room of vacancy) in place of her normal Earthquake in the 8th level slot, but otherwise, her spell preparations for this day are as per normal.

When that is done, she wildshapes into an eagle, and Transports Via Plants to a thick bush approximately on the other side of the Green Desert, and flies around in the lands of the north, to learn what she can of the happenings there. She keeps her height, to stay away from any hungry soldiers, and hovers for a bit if she finds anything of interest. Also, the raven scouts are sent out to investigate as well, but spread out.

Two ravens are sent out to each known good stronghold each bearing a tiny scroll attached to their leg reading:

Greetings from the Green Isle of Feather Lake,

Messengers have reached the ears of the Voice of Nature that the North prepares for war. Know that the forest stands with you all. Send back what you can about the current situation, and what names can be used to issue sendings to, and the Voice of Nature will contact you when possible.

also, written in so called "invisible ink," a mixture of juices only visible by firelight, behind the main text and written in sylvan reads:

Fair thee well friends of the forest, know it is Isten, Voice of Nature that sends greetings to you all in these dire times. Disregard the request to return a message, it may be intercepted. Please inform me of the current situation via secure magic.

Ashalla begins to detach the mirror from it's moorings, she had sent a wren for help from her students and soon they arrived and helped her carry it up the stairs to the summoning circle.

Ashalla watched the ensueing battle, as the Dragon evaded the defenders. It may be time to act. she thought to herself, a weight in her stomach.

OOC: How big is this dragon (Size catagory is fine) and are there any visible signs of spells on it (specifically shield, which appears as a tower shield size shimmering disk)

Ashalla waits for the dragon to surface again, when she has it's image in the mirror she will use it's ability to answer a single question about a creature pictured in the mirror.

"How do we put this ghost to rest?"

(with the info presented to me in the ooc thread)

Cursing himself for being too slow to act, Axorius throws caution to the wind.

As soon as the dragon disappears beneath the ground, Axorius Enlarges himself, then delays his action for when the dragon emerges again.

After it comes out into the middle of the troops, he immediately teleports adjacent to it (or charges if it is within 600 feet after the initial teleport and makes a full attack) and delivers the touch attack (+22 melee touch replacing one of the claw attacks, including the +2 for being invisible).

Zan and Dan will hold action, this time waiting for the dragon to come up. If it does and is within range, they will each cast a maximized empowered enlarged magic missle and then a quickened maximized empowered enlarged magic missle at it. Spell level: 6, Range: 130 ft, 28 missles, 7 pts each for 196 pts of damage.

Note: This is only if namelesses or any other plans don't work.
