It's supposed to be there. It's one of my "Must Buys".
I'm waiting for the PDF. I generally do not buy d20/3e stuff anymore, and when I do, it's in PDF. The DCC stuff is an exception, as I'm pretty adept at adapting them to my 1e game.

The maps won't be nearly as nice in PDF. That alone is reason to buy the set. BUt, to each his own. I'll let you look at my copy, then you can go drop the $.

I've lucky so far. I have access to a duplexing B/W laser printer, a color laser printer, and 42" and 60" plotters here at work (read: someone else pays for the toner/paper), and I've been able to get good looking maps via that route. The Wilderlands maps look great, as does Bard's Gate.

I'll start by saying that I love the DCC series.
I'm not quite sold on this particular product, though.

Pricey? Yes. (though given the contents listed, it seems like a fair price.)

The problem?
Do I need another campaign setting? I can barely keep up with Eberron and Midnight, and I'm still scroungng for the few 2E Ravenloft, Planescape, and Dark-Sun books I'm missing.

NPCs were there to be killed in the whole world

The DCC CS looks good and I am in the market for a campaign setting. I just wonder how one can make an entire CS with only "NPCs were there to be killed"? I have only played two DCCs are there outdoor adventures or are they all underground?

Hopefully they relax that guideline some. ;)

(Seriously, though, the tag line is just that -- there are NPCs in the later modules that player characters will want to talk to at least a bit before commencing with the stabbity-stabbity.)

Yeah, it's just a cute marketing line, it's not literally true (besides sometimes having NPCs to rescue, some have some brief info on a town or setting). Just like the name of the line itself - a lot of them aren't in dungeons. They pretty much all are site based adventures, so "crawls" is true.
