Goodman Games joins the high-priced market...

i have to agree it definitely looks worth $70 even if i don't have $70. i've played and GMed lots of DCC's and loved most of them and merely really liked the rest. Emerald Cobra has yet to be beat. i cant wait to see how yuanti fit in to the world!!
Adventure begins is definitely cool. i have yet to run any of them but i'm looking forward to Well of the worm and Isle of fury and Crystal Shrine which is cool because i love psionics. i hope to see more of that in the box set. seems silly that its number 35 like it's just another module but whatever. i thought it was silly when they made number 0 but nobody else seemed to care!

Looks very interesting, and I wish them the best.

I'm not interested in it, though, as I've long since chosen my campaign world.

This looks like the type of thing I'll need to own. It does look a little Basic D&D Gazetteer-ish, but I'm fairly certain that't exactly what they're going for. Actually, the main reason I'm interested is because I want a "throw-away" world that I can customize to my heart's content. I always feel like I'm stepping on someone's toes when I run anything in the realms that actually alters the setting in any way.

You know, something like this usually comes out AFTER I need it. :) I was just saying on another forum that my next campaign would be ... a "lite" setting, lots of Dungeon Mag and DCC adventures (I'm in a "published adventures only" phase in my gaming life), tied together with a little bit of Bards Gate and Tomb of Abysthor. And in fact I was seriously eyeing Renshai's DCC map as one of the possible settings. So this should work out great!

Tangent: Renshai, if you're still reading -- and as you are kind of a master of CC2 info ... do you know if there's a CC2 map of Bard's Gate and/or its neighboring countryside available somewhere? I have the book and am enjoying it -- I think having an electronic map would really help me with preparing handouts for players and adding cusom content.

Oh, this WILL be mine!

Couple questions Renshai:

1.) What's the details on deities? Generic pantheon, something specific, or not-metioned (aka add yer own)?

2.) Is the world going to be generic enough to plop in goliaths, warforged, samurai, psionics, etc without breaking the setting?

3.) Snake-men? Yuan-ti or something new?

4.) Did I see "Freeport" mentioned? As in, ya know, FREEPORT? Maybe Green Ronin will get some coin out of this too...

I've been wanting something like this for a long time...

That's an interesting question. Some of their DCCs use non-open creatures (drow and yuan-ti if I'm remembering correctly -- someone please correct me if I'm wrong here). I work under the assumption that Goodman Games got special permission to do so for each module as necessary. I wonder if that extends to their campaign setting too?

Goodman Games products are always pretty much solid. I'll want a closer look but I'd anticipate picking this up - even at $70. The value looks like its there, unlike Shackled City at $60 (YMMV), and it is not a wallet buster, to say nothing of the time needed to become familiar with it, like Ptolus at $120 (YMMV). I especially like it that the poster maps are NOT double sided. THAT is value I'll pay for without flinching - charge me more but give me SINGLE SIDED poster maps!

good point about doublesided maps! Ptolus touts doublesided maps like they're a good thing! is there a paper shortage? but the map previews look so far so good. i can't wait to put them up on my walls *looks for room on walls plastered with RPG maps* hm...maybe I need to expand to a new room.
yes i'm very anxious about the yuanti now! they're one of the most interesting races out there and i loved how they figured into Emerald King but you're right they're non-open creatures. but they used them before so they should be able to use them again!
looking at the map previews is very exciting. i wish i had a better sense of the scale though...patience... can anyone make out any DCC locations? the only thing i see is the island where the Emerald King took place - easy to spot on the players map! i really love how that map is incomplete looking but i marvel at how dead on accurate it is compared to the full map. Aerth has some great cartographers!!

This is somthing I'm definitely going to pick up. I;ve always been a sucker for settings, and really like generic settings that I can mix up myself if need be. I like highly specialized settings like Ptolus, but I find much more use out of settings like the Wilderlands and hopefully with DCC World.
