Google Adsense?

Someone trying to maximize their Web revenue, despite Ad-sense not being terribly good as ads go, and pretty uncontrollable in what content they show you.

I suspect a Suit, above the level of the Gleemax guys, mandated it. The terrible pop-up ads on our company site were forced upon us at my company by the guys at the parent corporation, who seem to think it's still 1998 and no one has a pop-up blocker.

uhhh . . . I'm running Firefox and I can still see a whole bar of google ads running down the right side of the gleemax window. Is there some setting I should be toggling to make that go away?

Are you using Adblock Plus? If you don't use it, install it ASAP, it's great (though some hate it)! AFAIK, the included filter subscription includes filtering google ads.

Cheers, LT.

Or Firefox with Adblock Plus! (wait... there's a Google Ad at gleemax? I'd have never known!).
It is so awkward when the ad guys come by my office and I have to white list the corporate site and reenable all the ads. Between Adblock Plus and ScriptBlocker, I barely recognize my company's site as it's "intended" to be. (And yes, I'm OK with subscription content as a result, because I know they have to make their revenue somewhere.)

It's not that adds are bothersome or noticeable or anything.

I'm used to seeing ad-sense on blogs and very small websites where the owner is trying to gin up a few extra bucks by running it. It's just weird seeing it on a big corporate website.

I suppose they just haven't yet activated the functionality that'll allow them to do banner adds similar to what you see on most other largish corporate sites.
