Got Urban Arcana! Summary & your questions answered!

Turn humans? Please tell me it doesn't use the same no-saving-throw-just-roll-d20-then-2d6 kludge that turning undead uses...please? Lie if necessary :)

Well, the book is called Urban Arcana, and that's exacly what's inside. However, I think the two overlap so much and are so similar that this book would be equally appropriate to both of them. I remember reading the two settings in the core rulebook, and thinking "these are just the same setting with different GMs..."

THANK YOU, yes, same thoughts here. I would hope the Shadow Chasers campaign would make wider applications of the Incantations system since there are no vancian casting classes.

No OGC. WotC usually release OGC via SRDs.

Odd. I thought d20 Modern settings were specifically set up to be supported primarily through third-party publishers.

Unfortunately, the Modern System Reference Document does not support any of the campaign setting; just the rules and FX add-ons.

They did allow the use of Department 7, but then they leave that organization up to individual publishers (if they want to use it).

I've been wondering, how did they incorporate the muscle-powered personal vehicles (e.g., bicycles, tricycles, scooters, skateboard, roller skate, inline skate, snowboards, surfboards, etc.) into the d20 Modern/Urban Arcana rules?

Morrus - thanks for the answer to the SL/UA crossover thing. It pretty much gave me what I wanted to know (ie - they haven't made a real effort to divorce the two, so the material is applicable to both with comparative ease).

My other question was - are there any easy rituals, or are they all high-level spell replacements?

I know this has been addressed somewhere already, but I can't find it...

What prestige classes are available?

I know Special Forces is one of them. Is it done well? That's one prestige class in particular that I've really been jonesing for, just in case I ever want to run G.I. Joe d20.

[I really need to figure out how to handle parachuting and scuba diving in d20 terms...new uses for Tumble and Swim?]

Thanks for the answers Morrus.

To clarify my query a little - are there any 2nd level spells in UA which could be "maximised" (i.e. have variable features)?

Cheers

other D20 modern Wotc sourcebooks?

Slightly off-topic, but is Wotc planning on releasing a campaign book for the Shadow Slayers world?

Also, I know that Menace is coming out, is there a list anywhere of what else might be coming from Wotc for D20 Modern?

Thanks

dmcmanus - Eric Cagle (sp) said no to the Shadow Chasers on the WOTC Urban Arcana messageboard. He gave a small tip IIRC on how to balence Urban Arcana and Shadow Chasers from polyhedron.

When is this book due to be released?

Amazon says June.

B&N says it is not out yet.

WotC says May.

So, which is it? As it stands, I would save move than $10 ordering it at Amazon but I am not certian it is worth waiting that long to get it from Amazon when it will be on the shelves for a month by that point.

Occording to Charles Ryan on the UA boards the 'official' release date is May 9th.

Those that entered the prize draw at the back of d20M and won have received their copies.
