Grasp of the Emerald Claw Opinions

So has anyone run through the last adventure in the Eberron series?

I thought it was much better than Whispers of the Vampire's Blade.

Still hits on some of the major elements of Eberron like fast movement between wide areas of land mass and the psudeo-science fiction elements without being too 'modern'.

Experiences?

I just picked it up and started to read it. I enjoyed Whisper moreso than Shadows, so am looking forward to reading Grasp. I do like the Eberron SciFi, fast moving feel as well.

My group (I'm currently a player) is in the midst of 'Grasp of...' (2 sessions behind us).

So far we like it better than 'whisper', its not as rail-roaded and so far at least there hasn't been an all-powerful villain with the ability to escape us miraculously 3/day :)

However, the very fact that we needed a submarine to travel to X'endrick seemed a tad silly to me. As if the author thought that taking a normal boat or an airship would be a rehash of the last adventure and would turn players off. I actually expected there to be some new "exciting" kind of transportation... that's the problem with this trilogy of adventures, once you get the hang of it they are very very obvious.

I own them. We played the intro adventure from the book and SotLW. Keith is a genius when it comes to some things, but I get the feeling adventure writing is not one of them.

He leaves out stupid little details, such as how deep is the shaft in the Forgotten Forge? Kinda important when using a rope. Yes, yes, I know: Cinematic. That's all well and good, but to make a movie, you need sets and props as well as actors.

Eberron is going to be our next full-time campaign world after my current homebrew wraps up. I will be using Keith's excellent setting, but making my own adventures in it.

No specific value is given, but
Elaydren says that the foundry is fifty-seven levels below the sewer system. Guessing ten feet a "level", we figured it was five hundred seventy feet down the shaft to where it levels off. Which as a side note, given the shaft if five feet wide, it really makes me wonder when I read stories on the WotC boards about how some group hauled the adamantium doors up and made a fortune.

Actually, just from the treasures/rewards in the two modules, my characters are rolling in dough.

I'll probably do a re-boot when we start up again, though.

I'm watching you!

Checking in on Eberron module threads...
