Grasp of the Emerald Claw: some spoilers

Even if they are, what about later adventures (published or homebrewed)? The DM should have looked at it, said "heck no!" and replaced it with something saner.

I'm placing the blame on the writer. I don't think it should have been written into the module in the first place. It is not importnat in the least to the module, we could probably have not found it and the adventure would be fine. There is no follow up adventure so it wasn't foreshadowing anything. I just thing it is bad module design in an otherwise pretty good module.

I think it is there as a hook for the DM to create new adventures for and reward the group getting past a very deadly trap.

You can ask Keith Baker why he put it in there, I am sure there was a reason. It was very Vecna to me thou.

Bruce R. Cordell, not Keith Baker.

Here are spoilers about the Tooth:

[sblock] You must graft it to an empty tooth socket, so you need at least to knock one of your natural teeth out.
It shrinks to fit the socket, but still remains obviously oversized.
You permanently lose 2 points of Charisma.
It cannot be removed without causing the death of the owner.
You gain continous Tongues; Once per day Suggestion and Shout; Once per week Word of Chaos.[/sblock]

Well my group0 never found that. They went barrelling to the to pand TPKed themselves through over-eagerness.

oh well.

Incidentally did your group run the totally naf 'shark and the nets' encounter or did you run the cooler version that Bruce has on his website where you run away from the Shark and try to stop the sahuagain from disabling the ship?

We did the module version, I don't think the DM was aware of the alternate version. THe encounter though was easy, my Druid Dominated the shark and took it away.

the Shark ate two of my PCs

The traps also took out a few

also two died in Stormreach from bad saves.

and the BBEG took a couple out

It was a brutal adventure

The Bodak we didn't run into for whatever reason, I've heard about it from others. But we spent very little time in the city not even spending a night.

Next week should be the BBEG and it's going to be tough as I'm almost out of spells and I think the wizard is close to out too. :D
