Greater Planar Ally Options

I guess technically you're right. But formians are boring, and inevitables are exactly what I think you'd get from a LN deity. Tough part: writing down an iron clad contract that won't come back to bite you in the a**. :D

Alternate LN critters: Modrons (true mechanus natives), Parai (Visilights in MMIII), gear spirits, moignos (though unless you summon them to do math for you, it might not do you much good).

Aren't the Death Slaadi CE (never understood that myself...).

Maybe using a templated Gray slad? (i.e Feral :] )

They've always been CN, but someone made them CE in 3e for reasons I don't understand myself understand. I use them still as CN.

Give a gray slaad levels of sorcerer (or a 3e wild mage class if one exists anywhere) and it'd be fun. And by fun I mean when it's not terribly destructive or randomly doing something contrary to what you want. :D

Is the sorcerer an associated or non associated class for the Gray Slad? If non associted:

Don't recall, but it should be. Green slaadi and Gray Slaadi are both magic wielding critters who obsess over magic power and studying how magic works simply for its creativity/destructive/Xaotic potential. They don't have spellcasting ability by the book, but a ton of SLAs. I'd see no problem with giving them sorcerer levels and/or just adding SLAs for more advanced ones.

There's a Wild Mage PrC in CompArc that would be rather appropriate. You can qualify for it with spells or spell-like abilities; all you need is Arcane Caster Level - 1st, some skill ranks, and a feat or two.

Seems right up the Slaadi Alley.

I checked it out....you're right, the PrC is fun for all Slaadi :D

Correct me if I'm wrong: the Slaadi spell-like abilities wouldn't improve (DC) if he took sorceror levels since these aren't racial hit dice.

As a related query, does adding racial hit dice to Monsters with spell like abilities have any effect on the caster level for said spell like abilities?

By the RAW no they wouldn't improve, but I see no reason not to let them improve.

I don't recall, but in either event, no reason I can see not to allow them to improve.
