D&D 5E Greg Tito Gives First Look at Eberron: Rising from the Last War

WotC's Greg Tito in this week's D&D News had some information to drop on the upcoming book, Eberron: Rising from the Last War, including a wallpaper background for his show, and a first look at the back of the special edition cover.

• The artificer in this book has 3 subclasses (unnamed): WotC's Jeremy Crawford had said previously that the alchemist was the low scorer of the last batch, so that might not have made the cut.
• Group patrons excite Greg Tito, a traditional quest giver who adopts the adventuring party is the background, but now with weighty mechanics: used the example of being a team working for a University.
• Eberron creator Keith Baker contributed a lot to this book, Jeremy Crawford was the lead, James Wyatt also worked on the book, as did a number of freelancers.
• There is a chapter that is a Gazeeter of Sharn.

Jeremy Crawford added some more detail -- "Eberron: Rising from the Last War" has nearly a hundred pages on building adventures in Khorvaire, the continent scarred by the Last War. That chapter includes a 1st-level adventure in the towering city of Sharn."

The warforged have different poses (with the swords at different angles), so I doubt it. I guess they could be the same warforged though.

Crawford has said on Twitter that this is a particular Warforged.

I like the group patron idea a lot. Kind of like the fixer in Shadowrun.

I really like the trend of including short adventures in the sourcebooks. The DMG should have had one TBH.

Basically anyone who had bought previous editions of Eberron was "wasting their money" by buying Wayfinders Guide. There was going to be nothing in that book that you didn't already know, and a quick glance around any message board or review would have told you that. Anyone who thus bought the product anyway did so to "support" the idea of Eberron as a campaign setting for 5E, and thus you have most definitely gotten your money's worth.

Anyone who buys Rising From The Last War is also "wasting their money" because again, there will be nothing new in this book either. If you have Wayfinders you can (and probably already have) been running Eberron campaigns without issue. So there's absolutely no reason to get annoyed about this new book as it is completely unnecessary to running your game. And if you decide to buy it, it's again only because you want to "support" Eberron as a setting, or because you don't actually have any other Eberron books yet.

I'm probably in the minority here, but that cover isn't super either. It looks very SPACE 1889 or something, more victorian and less Pulp Fantasy Action themed.

That warforged looks goofy too.

This is a pretty bad argument. In those earlier editions, you were buying material for that game in that edition. The mechanics I bought, the lore I bought, and the information I bought is all being reprinted in a better book, or was given out for free in an Unearthed Arcana. Please try not to make false equivalencies in the future!
