Greg Tito Is UHURA!

Former Escapist editor-in-chief Greg Tito is now WotC's new Communications Manager according to D&D Brand Manager Nathan Stewart -- "Please welcome Greg Tito newest member of the D&D team. Greg joins our team as Communications Manager and official bag of holding holder." Greg was laid off from The Escapist a couple of weeks ago. He mentioned his recent layoff, whihc also involved others: "Due to budget cuts at Defy Media, the parent company of The Escapist, Game Front, and GameTrailers, a large number of my colleagues have also been let go. This news sucks for everyone, including those left behind to run these publications. My thoughts are with all of you and I hope you bounce back with a new gig soon."

I was going to go the other way and say...does this mean that 5E is a blockbuster in sales since WoTC laid off 2 others and people thought it was due to lackluster5e sales. Maybe we can start yet another thread and have it go 96 pages of back and forth of how this 1 hire must mean 5e sales are higher compared pathfinder, 3e/3.4 4e and whatever else to and use the same amazon and ivc2 rankings.

Yeah didn't they lay off two people, and then hire two people? I think this puts us right back to the same number of employees working on D&D as we had prior to the layoffs.

The Escapist is an excellent site. Greg Tito helped make it that. And the Adventurer, Conqueror, King system is very good indeed. Pretty much all that needs to be known about his qualifications. I'd like to congratulate him on his new job myself.

I feel like I'm the only one who originally came into this thread to find out why there was a thread started about a man who has for some reason been cast as Uhura on Star Trek.
No- I did too.

I do agree that comparing journalists to judges is a somewhat of a false equivalency, of scale and social impact, but integrety is still central to both jobs.
I agree about the false equivalence. I also think that comparing games reviewers to journalists is something of a false equivalence.

Good. Maybe he will reconsider his job.

I very, very much doubt that. What he might do, however, is reconsider the value in spending time here, listening to us and communicating with us.

So? It's the internet, his job is communication. I don't really feel one way or the other about the guy, but if he can't handle the internet, he probably needs a different job. Like an accountant.

The man served as Editor-in-Chief of The Escapist. I think it's safe to say he can handle the internet just fine. But the internet is a big place, and there are a lot of places the D&D Communications Manager can choose to interact with. It would be nice if this were one of those places, but it doesn't have to be. Let's work a little harder on making this fan site a bit less hostile towards the person responsible for choosing which fan sites to pay attention to, hmm?

I'll let you look him up and form your own opinion on the man. In my opinion, WotC could have hired someone less morally bankrupt, less unethical, less divisive, and less destructive to various gaming hobbies to promote their own social agendas, someone like Jack Chick. :p

I agree with you. Ahh the entertainment industry. As big as it is, there are circles within inner circles. Names are mentioned and remembered.

That is all I am willing to say.

If you don't want the potential negative commentary, I suggest you disallow discussion on the subject.
