Former D&D communications manager criticizes ex-employer.

We reported earlier that WotC's communications director Greg Tito had left his 9-year stint managing the Dungeons & Dragons brand for a political appointment as Deputy Director of External Affairs for the Washington secretary of state's office.

In a surprising turn of events, Tito criticized his former employers, saying "It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of a**holes." He later went on to clarify "Sorry. I meant "shareholders".

Tito is now Deputy Director of External Affairs for the Washington Secretary of State office in Olympia, WA.

I'm actually curious why so many think throwing a little shade at your ex-employer is such a career-killer around here.
Besides the low-hanging "freedom of speech" argument, don't you think a person who works in the field of Communications (not just Communications, but DIGITAL Communications) quite well understands when and when not to hit "Send" when it comes to social media posts?
Well, that's precisely why I think it is interesting, because I would not have pressed send on that, given that it may end up being discussed by random weirdos on a major forum.

That seems a little unprofessional of him in context of his current duties.

In looking at it in a better light, perhaps it is that he enjoys being a public servant and serving the public than being in a corporate community, which I can respect.

I think his wording may have been easier to digest without the expletive though.

I hope him good luck in the new job and hope that his outreach with the office he is connected is good and has great relations with others!
I don't know...seemed easy enough to digest over here. Glad he feels he can be honest.

He's not just some desk jockey, he was on the PR team. That means that it's his job to make people feel good about the company he worked for. If I was a hiring manager I would look at this as a massive red flag.

He can hold whatever opinion he wants, I just don't think that calling who were (and potentially could be again) responsible for your paycheck a**holes is a good look for someone that's the company face. His choice of course, he can do whatever he wants. I would just never vent like this on a publicly viewable forum.

That was his job. Now he can talk about how he really feels. It must feel pretty good.

Oh noes, he called some people a**holes. I'm very, very sure I've been called, and will be called, much worse names. And sometimes it will be 100% deserved.

Good grief. People really need to lighten up.
But one of us disposable labor piles needs to defend the multi-millionaires that buy and sell every aspect of our existence!

If we hurt their feelings, they might not even feel like telling us we're family before cutting off our pay and benefits then flooding the job market with fake employment postings for write-off purposes right before Christmas! Is that what you want?
