what I'd really like to do is head for Furyondy and join the good fight vs. Iuz...
As they say, "been there/done that" as both DM and player. Furyondy was fun, as was Highfolk. Battled orc troops in the Vesve Forest (as a player), and created an ancient elvish tomb on the southern edge of the same forest which created a link to Ravenloft (the PCs inhaled "mummy breath" inside the tomb that I used to link them to the Domain of Dread).

Good times, those.

I suppose Furyondy could be compared with Gondor as a last bastion against Iuz (Mordor)

That's basically the short-and-sweet description I gave to my players when describing the various nations near them; similarly, I described Highfolk as being roughly equivalent to the Shire.

I much prefer the Old Aerdy East. I'm an intrigue hawk and this area has the most tantalizing possibilities for me. Ancient decaying empire, political pressure cooker (Great Kingdom, Solnor compact), civil war threats all over the place, surrounding region instability (old aerdy west, scarlet brother hood to south, barbarian encroachment to north-east, theocaracy/Tenh problems to north-west)......exciting!

My first 3ed campaign was in and around the Yeomandry. I took Return to Keep on the Borderlands and ran off that. The players lasted until about 12th level, then we moved on. The next DM ran Return to Temple of Elemental Evil.

My answer was where i have ran the majority of my campaigns, but I have taken my players to just about every part of the Greyhawk lands, including the Great Wastes. I don't remember if I ever had them go into the Blackmoor area though.

My campaign has been in the mountains and plains of modern day Perrenland and the players (migrating Flan) have just discovered Whitsil lake. My campaign is set before the twin cataclysms and is following A mortal Vecna's rise to dominance among the tribe and eventually the Flanaess.

The campaigns I run (or played in) in the World of Greyhawk:

* Campaign I - based in Veluna/Furyondy
* Campaign II - based in Free City of Greyhawk, then moved to Vesve Forest
* Campaign III - based in Free City of Greyhawk, County of Ulek and Bissel.
* Campaign IV - based in County of Ulek
* Campaign V (current) - based in the Great Kingdom (See of Medegia)

I feel very close to the County of Ulek, as it's where my first AD&D campaign character comes from, and I've developed the County to some extent.

Cheers!

Another vote for the sheldomar Valley, which seems ahead by a fair margin. I se tmy previous campaign in Keoland, which provided a nice, stable base of affairs while having enough dangerous spots around it to provide lots of adventuring options.

Yep, I've been watching over the course of the day and the Sheldomar Valley has been in the lead the whole time, though at just about any point, the Western Nyr Dyv would've won if I hadn't seperated Greyhawk into a separate category. Aerdy and the Isolated Realms have been significantly behind these three the whole time, but still way ahead of just about everywhere else. I guess not that many people use the fringe areas. Though I'd have to say, I'm a little surprised at how few people seem to bother with the Old Aerdy West (Nyrond and surrounding states).

Cool, keep 'em coming. Again, war stories are welcome, especially about the less traveled areas.
