1E Greyhawk Map - My 1980 Darlene inspired recreation!

Hey everyone, I want to share with you the project I have been working on this week. For my upcoming Greyhawk campaign I was looking for a copy of the 1980 Darlene Greyhawk map. I am planning to add some homebrew stuff to the map so I decided that maybe I should try my hand at recreating the map. This is purely a fan creation and I wanted to share it with anyone interested in it.

Here is the first release candidate version on Easy Zoom. I am sure some errors will arise so after some edits I will be releasing the 12000+ pixel PNG file. This is not an exact replica and some distances may be off but I am overall happy with the results. Enjoy and let me know if you find mistakes or omissions so I can fix them.

That is super awesome!

Is there any chance to be able to download it at its maximum resolution as a single file?

Very nice. Your Wonderdraft skills are strong, young one. :)

I had actually considered doing something like this myself, but never had enough ambition to do it. I hope you make the final file available when it is done. Keep up the excellent work!

I am planning to release the max resolution file hopefully this weekend. I knew that there would be some errors and omissions so I wanted to get the Easyzoom file out first. I have a list of edits that people have messaged me overnight. Once I get them done and feel it's close enough i'll get the first version out for download.

Some suggestions:

  • there's a swamp in the northern part of Hepmonaland, but I forget its name
  • I'm pretty sure Hellfurnaces is only one word, not two
Other than that, it's amazing!

Pelisso Swamp. You are correct, I forgot it. Thanks

I have Hellfurnaces on my list to fix. Will get at them this weekend.

No can do. Wizards hasn't opened up Greyhawk for any type of commercial publication. There are many in the Greyhawk community that are ready to start publishing if they ever do open it up. For now, every gets my homage to Greyhawk for free.
hmm talk to Paizo I bought a Darlene type map from them a couple of months ago. It is meant for DM as it shows all the module locations. Not for players.

Yeah I know about that map. It's from 4 dungeon magazines and Paizo was publishing them at the time. I haven't bought one of them so I don't know if they are original or something they printed to sell back when the magazine published and they are still selling them off. Either way, I am sure they have the licensing rights to sell it. As for new products, WOTC owns the rights to Greyhawk and right now you just cannot publish commercially for it.

Thank you. I look foward to it, but take as much time as you need. So far, the results are gorgeous.

My Greyhawk map v1.1 is up and finished for the time being. I added the missing locations, fixed some spelling errors, and fixed a few label issues. The new Easyzoon version will allow you to take snapshots at any zoom level or download the full resolution file. Enjoy, I hope somebody finds it useful.
