G'day folks!

I notice that there are quite a few Greyhawk players and DMs on this board. I'm so happy. :)

I'm just wondering - what is the primary source of Greyhawk campaign information for your game?

Although I use both the 1983 boxed set and the LG Gazetteer in my campaign, I'd have to say the the LGG has overwhelmed the 1983 set as my primary source of useful information.

Cheers!

Merric,

Cool poll, though i would have prefered to see a mulitple choice, I think I know why you did not....

To me, the classic modules drip more GH "feel" than anything..I will have to think about my actual vote though...I own everything you posted...tough decision..as I use all of it...

EDIT: I picked PG/TAB. The GH 98 books fire my imagination more than anything else. Roger did a fantastic job. Yup it's limited in scope, but it provides enough info to run a good GH campaign with tons of adventure hooks and ideas I can expand upon, while not getting so indepth or matter of fact as to be boring and uninspiring from a creative aspect (which I hate to say, but the LGG and 83 boxed set make feel that way).

Save for the 1980 folio, I have them all. And I use the all of them when researching aspects of the game, since my campaign actually spans from CY 579 to CY 593.

I picked the LGG, though I wouldn't use it without the 83 boxed set. But the LGG has lots of info.

I've never seen the 1980 version; is is worth getting the esd if you have the 1983 set? Ditto with FtA?

While I use the LGG and what I can find on the web ie Canonfire and the various greyhawk stuff, I make due:D I'm a long time Greyhawk fan who got back in due to 3e and so use what I remember from the past and apply it to the future. In my current PbEM Turrosh Mak hasn't struck so the wild coast is still valid for slavers and whatnot. In it King Scotti is the only force for good able to do anything. The forces arrayed in Furyondy are on the point of disarming as the southern lords want to return to a pre-war footing, Nyrond is trying to keep from disolving into Civil war and the only problem for Scotti is he must remain "neutral" as he re-builds Keoland into a military power with the capability for force projection while he fights against the naysayers who would elect a new king over him.

I really considered making the poll multiple choice, but in the end I settled for a single choice for reasons that should be fairly apparent.

You can discuss the various books you actually do use here. I still use the '83 set extensively, and it details the setup of my campaign better than the LGG, but the LGG has more material in it that inspires me - especially the write-ups of the deities!

Cheers!

I used to have a book from "From the ashes" but it has been lost for some time now. I would like to find that again or at least find some site that has a downloadable version converted or not. For now I get most of my info from the gazateer and articles that appear in magazines.

I had to say other.

Until recently, I guess that I would have said the Living Greyhwk gazeteer, although I do currently own all of them from from the ashes onwards. I did use to own the 1980 folio and the 83 box set, but those have disappeared on me over the years.

Why I said other is that my current Greyhawk game is set in the year 3845 SD, about 2,200 years before CY 591. For this I am basically having to make my own source material, although I have been trawling through all the GH goodies that I own and canonfire and codex greyhawk as well as other bits that I may be able to find on the web.

I guess that for this campaign my main source so far has been Oerth Journal #1, for the history bits in it.

That 1980 folio was inspirational to me and I really like that look for a map. The Gazetteer was less interesting, but gave us interesting name to knock around.
