[GRIM TALES] For GT regulars: Have you read Slavelords?

I love Slavelords...

I have purchased and read Slavelords of Cydonia, with the intention to either run it as is, or adopt portions of it for a planetary romance-style campaign. It captures the flavor of the genre amazingly well, and was the reason I sought it out in the first place. The book was good enough that I want to buy Grim Tales, but the LFGS is sold out. I'll be picking it up at Gen Con in a few weeks, though. First thing Thursday morning. No doubt about it.

Slavelords sold me on Grim Tales. I am amazed at how well the adventure is written to cover an epic campaign and do so as completely as it does, compared to my gaming/GMing style.

Thanks, Wulf,
Flynn

I love GT, but I haven't bought Slavelords for the following reasons:
1) I live in Paris (not an insurmountable obstacle)
2) I don't have time to run a second campaign
3) Turanil (who is part of my group here) has made noises about running it.

If not for number 3, I probably would have tried to get it just for idea mining by now.

slavelords

You're right about it capturing the feel of the genre.

And it's names for monsters, NPCs, etc. are well thought out and evocative.

mini rant:
There are so many products out there now with 'bad name syndrome'. I mean, I think Iron Heroes sounds great, but the class names are terrible. Armiger????

Slavelords has cool names.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

I am not sure who to credit with the names-- Matt or Eric, or both-- but you are right: they are great.

Slavelords is just a great read.

The only credit I can take where the names are concerned is standardizing the Sli'ess nomenclature-- so the Ra will always have an "aa" in their name, the Yul always have a "u", the mutants only have a single name (never have a family name), etc.

It helps to be able to read a name in the text and automatically know what house he belongs to, etc.

Yes, you read that right: I brought mechanics to the "fluff" of names. ;)

Is that under the OGL? :D

I can't believe you started this when I was actually working and not screwing around on the boards.....

I kept waiting for a response... I definitely counted you among the "regulars."

Ya snoozed.

Yeah, I should have known better than to be ready for work on time...especially since the guy I was working with ended up being two hours late. One more reason I can be pissed at him :]

Like Rodrigo, I missed out on the initial offering, but I'll be following you guys in the PbP threads.

Now, quit slacking with work, and get playing! ;)
