It occurred to me the other day that we have all kinds of names for animal groupings: a pride of lions, a pod of whales, a murder of ravens, and so forth. But we don’t have any names for the common groups of D&D.
Thus, in the spirit of my long-departed loremaster and Mad Magazine fans everywhere, I present my listing of some of the main groups of D&D. Feel free to add more, hopefully better than some of mine..
Classes:
A drool of barbarians.
A chord of bards.
A hymnal of clerics. (A necronomicon of evil priests.)
A grove of druids.
An armory of fighters.
A fist of monks.
A crusade of paladins. (In other settings, like Al Qadim: A jihad of paladins.)
A pack of rangers.
A guild of rogues.
A boy-band of sorcerers.
A wand of wizards.
A flight of arcane archers.
A murder of assassins.
A library of loremasters.
A wall of Dwarven Defenders.
A puddle of Oozemasters.
-------------
Races:
A bar-fight of dwarves.
A flounce of elves.
An illusion of gnomes.
A peck of halflings. (With a nod to Mr. Ratbane.)
An infestation of humans.
An arachnid of drow.
A slurpee of Illithid.
A barbecue of dragons. (Assume red.)
An annoyance of goblins.
A clutch of kobolds.
