Guess What?! NC Game Day VIII is September 10th!

Just the maturity guide, that's why I suggested removing it.

I've pulled the info that was in the Maturity Guide info page into the pop-up helps on the add/edit event page. Hopefully that should help as you don't have to go look at another page to figure out what they mean. I did go ahead and make the 'System' help sticky. It now has a 'Close' link that you hover over (or you can hover over another ?) and it'll go away. I figured the link to mail if you can't find the specified System is important.

Well, it sounds like everyone had a great time and I missed out on a fun game day. :(

There's always January. Henry and I can caravan from SC!

Sounds like I missed a fun Gameday. Ah well, next time I'll be there for sure.

In other news, my beach vacation was cut shourt by psudo-hurricane Ophelia, which caused Hatteras Island to be evacuated on Tuesday afternoon... :(

Bummer man. I'd forgotten you were out there. I suppose it's extra good that you skipped the Game Day then or you'd have had pretty much zero time there (a fact which would no doubt have been noticed by your lovely wife ;)).

So did you take the rest of the week off anyway? :D

Had yesterday off, and spent the entire day (10:30am-midnight) playing Advanced Civilization with the people we were at the beach with. That made up for some of the loss of beach time, since that was what we had planned on doing one day anyway.

Had to go back to work today (which was the plan all along) for mandatory training, and tomorrow will be hell day to catch up on email and fix all the problems that people dumped on me while I was gone.

Site Suggestion

Not sure if anyone would be interested in this, but there has been something that has annoyed me about signing up for gamedays.

Personally, once game day has been announced, I would like a period where GMs sign up their games without any players allowed to immediately get into the game. There always seems to be either a rush to get into certain games or a game that pops up a few weeks later that I'd rather play, yet would feel bad to just drop out of the game I sign up for because something more interesting came along.

I propose that we have a period where GMs post their events and then a later date where players get to start signing up. Games could be added at any time, but this would prevent one or two DMs from getting a game up early and having a lot of people sign up fast, then having a few more games open later.

Personally, I would annouce game day in November. And have this schedule:

Nov. 1-30: GM Event listing
Dec. 1: Players begin to sihn up for games (GMs may still post games)

Does this make sense?

makes perfect sense to me, although I think 30 day s for GM signups may be a bit longer than necessary. 2 (or 3 max.) weeks should be long enough for everyone to start planning their games and add them.

I'm not adverse to the idea but I agree with CL that 2-3 weeks should be sufficient for GM's to get their games in.

I've scheduled a lunch with Neal next week and we'll talk about this among other things. Good suggestion, BU.

Sadly, I'm not sure how feasible this will be either. The system relies on wiping events between game days. It'd require a bit of a rework to handle it. I'll put it on the back burner. If others of you think this is important, please speak up.

That's fine. If I'm the only one who's interested in this, don't worry about it. Alternatively, you could also consider having a profile page where the members could write up a brief profile for themselves (which might include the systems/games they've run in the past). But, if no one else thinks this is needed, there's no need to worry about it.

Is there a reason this couldn't just be put on the end of the event description? Or are you not wanting it to show up in the sign-up sheets?

Well, I guess I was thinking that the description was more like a synopsis or teaser of the game. It might be handy to have a "DM's Notes" field for any additional notes the DM might want to add about the game. Again, if I'm the only one who's interested in this, don't sweat it.
