Can someone please help me understand something. One of the Prereqs for Guild Thief is 3 ranks in Gather Information, but Gather Information isn't a class skill. Huh? So they are supposed to be able to gather intel before joining the guild, but after they get in they don't need to? Does this make sense to anyone else? I checked the errata and FAQ to see if it was a mistake, but I didn't see it in either of those locations.

It's probably an oversight which hasn't been fixed yet, and that's not the only place it happened. The 3.0 Blackguard had 5 ranks in Hide as a prerequisite for the PrC, but didn't have Hide on the class list. That error has been rectified in 3.5. Just add Gather Information to the class list.

Guild thieves need to know the basics of Infor gathering but are not expected to conduct those activities themselves. See it as a general prereq: it shows an interest and capabilities in social skills in general. They help develop a logic or methodology that will be useful in becoming the perfect guild thief.
