One's tastes are certainly a factor in a campaign, but one also needs to look at whether it is actually possible or even likely in the setting for something to exist be it airships, brothels, guns, torture, etc. Omitting something "distasteful" where such a thing would actually make for a more compelling story is poor writing in my eyes. Compelling meaning fun, interesting, realistic, whatever.I don't think I will ever understand why, but arguments about including guns always want to talk about the logic of it. It's more of a matter of taste though. You like them or you don't. There is no accounting for taste.
