GURPS Traveller: Interstellar Wars - Your Thoughts

GURPS Traveller: Interstellar Wars is the GURPS rendition of Traveller for GURPS Fourth Edition. I don't own the fourth edition Basic set yet, but I do intend to buy it and Interstellar Wars.

What are youre thoughts on GURPS 4th Edition, GURPS Traveller and Interstellar Wars?

Not exactly. Rather, it is a historical setting for Traveller - the time period when humans from Terra first met the Vilani Empire, engaged it in a series of wars, and finally conquered it. The technology is therefore more primitive than in the "standard" setting, and the selection of aliens is different.

What are youre thoughts on GURPS 4th Edition, GURPS Traveller and Interstellar Wars?

GURPS 4th Edition: Much more flexible than GURPS 3e - which is saying a lot. Many annoying inconsistencies are eliminated, and it is now equally useful for cinematic, larger-than-life games as for the fairly gritty ones GURPS is best known for. One downside to its comprehensiveness is that it is sometimes hard to find the skill or advantage you are looking for. I recomment starting with GURPS Lite 4e (which is freely downloadable)...

GURPS Traveller: Great series. "First In" is one of the best books on SF worldbuilding I know, and many other supplements are great treatments of their relative subjects.

Insterstellar Wars: From what I've read in the playtest, this does sound like a very interesting and dynamic setting. I think that when it is published, it will be a stand-alone, "Powered By GURPS" book (i.e., it will have a modified version of GURPS Lite in it so that you don't need to refer to GURPS Basic), but I'm not completely sure about this.
