gythka: base damage & STR damage

First Post
according to the SRD:

*Wielding a Weapon Two-Handed: When you deal damage with a weapon that you are wielding two-handed, you add 1-1/2 times your Strength bonus.
*Off-Hand Weapon: When you deal damage with a weapon in your off hand, you add only 1/2 your Strength bonus.
*Double Weapons: You can use a double weapon to make an extra attack with the off-hand end of the weapon as if you were fighting with two weapons. The penalties apply as if the off-hand end of the weapon were a light weapon.

So, according to this, I would guess that someone using a gythka that had a STR of 20 would add only +5 to the damage with the "main" end of it and only a +3 with the "off hand end", correct? Even though they're technically using it two handed, using a dble weapon says you treat it as you were fighting with two weapons.

Also, I have now seen 3 different base damages listed for the gythka. XPH has it as d10, Savage Species has it as a d8, and MMII has it (under thri-kreen) as 2d6. Is there an official ruling on this?

To clarify, when you're fighting with both ends (ie. getting two attacks at -2/-2 using the TWF feat) you get +5/+2 damage with the main and off hands. When you're not making two attacks, you count it as a two handed weapon and do +7 damage.

The official ruling would have to be 1d10, since the XPH is the most recent book, and the only one of the three that uses the 3.5 rules.
