Ha! Found the movie I was looking for a few weeks ago...

The one in the thread about "What is this movie" thread from a few weeks ago (which I hijacked).

The one about a werewolf/ Baskerville style case set in the 40s in England, but not actually the Baskervilles, and with an American forensic scientist?

It's "The Undying Monster", aka "The Hammond Mystery", and AMC is showing it right now (which is how I know).

Sadly, not on DVD, but at least I know the name of it.

Terrific, though I'm now hijacking this thread to try and find a movie I saw once in Japan.

It was in english and was almost certainly an american movie. I saw it 13-14 yrs ago, so it was made no later than early 90's.

Starts off as a fairly standard buddy-buddy movie. Rough tough Special Forces type and computer geek are sent into Afghanistan to recover pieces of a crashed russian jet and have typical buddy-buddy action adventure experiences until they finally get to the area where the plane crashed.

This is where the movie takes a sudden turn into la-la land.

It turns out that the SF guy had been here two years previously and had his memories erased by the psychic priestesses at the monestary. As they are escorted into the catacombs below the monestary they see a glowing orb and the computer geek immediately leaps to the obvious conclusion.

"This must be the <technospeak name> the deep space probe that we lost last year, it must have fallen through a black hole, gone back in time and witnessed all of recorded history, which makes it the ultimate weapon!"

I'd just like to know the name of this film.

Is the werewolf a fake in that movie? It's been many years since I've seen it, but I could swear it was a real monster. I also read the book, but the only thing I remember from that is that the curse is of viking origin.

And while I'm here, I'll hijack the thread, too. :)

I'm looking for the title of an animated movie I saw as a kid. It was Asian and dealt with Asian gods, but I'm not sure if it was Japanese or from somewhere else. All I remember from it was that one of the heroes was brown birdman (with beak and wings). He ends up sacrificing himself by being dropped into a pot and boiled alive. And I think the villain could seperate his head from his body. I saw it in the 80's, so it was probably made in the late 70's, early 80s.
