jontherev, I don't think you've got that quite right. Doesn't he start off with Troll hit die, skill feats and saves? And then gets character hit dies, skills, feats and saves on top of that?

Isn't that the way it works with critter PCs with more than 1HD?

actually since its a base race with a template added on i am pretty sure that he gets the hit dice of the troll, again am i wrong? i am lookign for everyflaw possible in this character because the player doesnt' wanna make somethign he wil regret.

Maybe, not sure. That's how I thought it worked, but I'm not an expert in this area.:D If it does work as you suggest, how come my drow didn't get any extra hit die? None of the +ECL races in FRCS get extra hit die. A Svirfneblin (which has hit dice in the MM right?) starts at 1st level, but is equal to level 4. However, he only rolls one dice for hit points and gets nothing extra. That's how I understood it to work and I thought any race works like that. If I'm wrong, can some explain why it works for monsters and not for "normal" pc races with +ECL?
 

Hmm. Remember, even a simple Dispel Magic can shut down a magic item for a time.

Let's also remember that there's no town in the world that'll let him inside. The guy is a monster.

Well, you are wrong.

All races with an ECL rating are 1 HD monster in the MM they simply exchange that racial HD with a class HD.

Monster with more than 1 HD has 'monster racial levels' which means they are not considered to start at 1st level.

Correct, he gets an additional +6d8, even, but it really isn't enough to save him when characters around 12th level are dishing that out in a round-by-round basis.

so since regeneration is a supernatural ability, which can be supressed by things like antimagic field and dispel magic this is possible agaisnt him?
 


Regen is exceptional and functions in an anti-magic area.

Oooh, found a couple more. Earthquake will take him out if he falls in a fissure. If you get lucky on a Fort save, Phantasmal Killer takes him out to.

Heck, get him hit by Sepia Snake Sigil. When he gets encased, carry him to a large body of water and drop him in. A few days later, it wears off. He drowns. If you're on the ocean, you might even be able to get him crushed by the pressure.
