Had any luck converting 3.x material to 4E?

One conversion suggestion I have:
If there is a fight with few monsters and little terrain, check if in the larger area there are additional encounters, and combine a few of them. Instead of pretending the monsters don't hear or react to the fighting going on, pretend they recognize it and come to interfere.
If you want to keep the encounter interesting, try to place the monsters in a way that allows all "participants" to enter from different locations, possibly surrounding the party.

Starting a combat at the "entry" point of the battlemap often leads to very static encounters - the PCs build up their front at the first chokepoint, and the monsters wait in line to be slaughtered. (Of course, once you add Artilleriy monsters in the mix, that won't be as easy...)

Its somewhat lazy DMing on my part, but of late, I've had several insubstantial undead more through the walls to go after the rear of the party. It helps that even the weakest 4e character can take several hits before dropping.
