I know! I know! It was that thing about 'constructive criticism'. It has those ' thingies around it, that's it, right? Right?

I did this because I really want the character to be unique
What I don't understand (well, beside russian, I can't even read that), is that people always have to create way-out-there races just to be unique. You can create a unique character without mix-matching some mortal enemies into one race. You don't need the one-of-a-million alignment exception character (like LG Succubus), either. You don't even need the unlikely class/race or class/class combo (like Half-Orc Bard, Sun Elf Barbarian, or Druid/Paladin).
You can create a unique character with the "normal" combinations, and you can do that even without creating a cliché-character (actually, dual-scimitar-wielding drow or the by now overused elf/orc crossbreeds are far worse cliché's than any halfling rogue or elven wizard can ever be).
and the girl is a huge Tolkien fan ... so I know she can accurately play the race ...
What does that have to do with it? If anything, a Tolkien fan will be even more disgusted by that idea, since there ALL orcs are evil, and no elf would ever side with and orc, even the evil ones.
(and besides, it isn't a common race whatsoever ... she might be the only one of her kind).
Se my comments about unique character.
But hey ... its ok if you want to be strict on the rules
That has nothing to do with rules (by the rules, you can create half red-dragon trolls), it has to do with credibility of a world (I don't care whether it's a powergamer's race, as long as the level adjustment's right)
I used the DMG's race creation rules, and according to what is already OFFICIAL as +1 level adjusted races ... this one is way under.
Have you checked the errata? AFAIK those tables have been adjustet quite a bit.
Besides ... I already have a GM's mindset ... you could point out a pagenumber from GOD's Rulebook and I'd tell you to shut up ... cause when I'm GM, I'm GOD ... and that IS A ****IN' RULE.
And when you're posting at this forum, you're just another member, like most of us (some are community supporters, mods or even admin).
But what ISN'T there in the rules is the same thing that ISN'T there in the DROW race (another somewhat overpowered race [+6, -2] even for a level adjusted +2 race) ... they are almost completely shunned.
I have drow and players of normal races in one party, and they don't seem overpowered. Being 2 levels behind is quite a setback, even with +2 Int, +2 Dex and SR!
A Good Drow has no place in EITHER society ... both want to kill him ... the same for a Orc/Elf ... Elves want to kill it because they are biased against all orcs, whether they are good or evil, and Orcs are biased against elves period ...
Drow have Eilistraee. Plus, a good drow can hide in drow society (as Drizzt has proven, and a couple of other characters, too). There are no gods for the elforcs, and they cannot hide what they are.
And humans (the largest population of faerun) generally don't like either race too much, although they tolerate half-orcs and tolerate elves. Not too many humans are heads-over heals about elves, because they are so conceited.
The word "generally" isn't one I would apply to the humans of Toril.
Especially the nomadic moon elves are accepted in quite a lot of regions (practically in all Chondath).
And if you start quoting crap without taking into account that this isn't a GREYHAWK race ... it is for the FORGOTTEN REALMS ... then doubly shut up. Greyhawk is crap ... its a lousy setting.
I'm not so familiar with Grayhawk, but I doubt it's lousy, and for D&D, it serves its purpose.
Funnily enough, Faerûn has the same tales about elf-orc strife than the general D&D setting (IMO even more so, since the story about the fight between Corellon and Gruumsh is detailed in FR novells and RPG products)
And since I'm suddenly in a bitchy mood ... Corellan and Gruumush might not like the idea of this Half-Breed ... but then again ... I am Ao ... so they have to listen to me ...
Why, the FR, which you so highly praise, depict Lord Ao as very passive. He never tinkers with the fates of single mortals (after the ToT, some Waterdhavians started a cult of Ao, but they gave it up after he didn't grant them spells) and only tinkers with the gods if they don't behave in accordance to their portfolio. And since it practically is in their portfolios to hate each other, he won't stop some elven or orc deities who prevent such an union.
You might think this race is overpowered ... but wait until the other characters in the group discover that she is half-orc/half-elf ... wait until it is commonly known that such an "abbomination" exists ... this is the downside ... that ... and the +1 lvl adjustment
The +1 lvl may make them balanced in respect to the rules, but that does not explain why such a union was possible in the first place, or why that infant saw dawn more than once.
But then again ... humans have no downside what so ever? Does every race need a 'bad side'.
They need to be balanced. To have a good side more powerful than that of the "workbench race" means that you have to have a downside to balance it up.
You could let every character start up with two feats at 1st level, and that would be OK if humans had 3 feats at 1st, since everything would be in relative balance then.
... I freakin don't even come here much
That's a blessing, considering your tone.
... and I told my players this was a good site for all things D20 ...
It is. Hundreds of members that are happy with it prove that. But, then, they know how to behave (the ones that came here trolling often don't last long)
I'll go to the non_rule's lawyers forum ....
Seeking to keep the balance isn't ruleslawyering, and trying to keep the game credible isn't either.
You know ... the creative one ... where people use that lump 3ft above their a$$.
Good riddance, I say. As soon as you have learned how to behave properly, you can gladly come back. But 'till now all you did here was trolling, while people like Hypersmurf have actually contributed to the community here.
