Half-Orc Cleric/Assassin. Possible builds?

How about Avenger/Invoker? Mostly the same flavor as Ass/Clc, but with some stat synergy. Both use Wisdom as a primary stat- and, as I recall, have some keyword synergy: I believe both classes have some Radiant attacks.

I think it's an interesting comment on the 4e power source system that pretty much none of the suggestions for building a cleric/assassin actually use the cleric and assassin classes. :)

Depending on the character's flavor, I think avenger is an excellent choice for either a single-classed version of the "holy assassin" concept or for half a hybrid or multiclassing via feats. I like the avenger/invoker suggestion, too.

Maybe a death cleric using Heroes of Shadow material mixed with the shroud-type assassin? Unfortunately, most of my books are at my gf's house, and I am not a current DDI subscriber, so I can't get very specific at the moment.

In my case, its because I'm nowhere near my books, and I don't have a DDI subscription.

4e classes are much more combat roles than character archetypes anyway. But the upthrust is certainly "there's a lot of ways to do this, depending on what KIND of cleric/assassin you want to be."

The avenger would appear to fit this concept perfectly. You could multiclass to cleric to access some of the healing powers, and/or take the ritual caster feat to use rituals.

Agreed.

Actually, I think the hybrid Executioner|Cleric works pretty well. There isn't GREAT stat synergy, but both Executioner and Cleric can work pretty well with a single stat, so a Half-orc with primary DEX and WIS, secondary CHA is workable. You get one stat synergy from Half-orc on DEX, so that allows for decent stats overall. Play with say hide armor and you can have a perfectly nice AC. In fact you'll have a rather good overall spread of stats. You could use Warpriest and then you've got some good WIS based melee attacks too on the cleric side, but honestly you don't need them much, I'd think it would be better to use a 'laser' type approach to that side of the character (IE Lance of Faith, etc). That way you can do some stuff from range and use the Assassin stuff for closing in for the kill.

I think it would actually play a good bit like the old 1e cleric/assassin.

Of course all the other possible divine classes you could use are all interesting too. 4e definitely has a crazy number of options available.

Hmmm...Hybrid Executioner Assassin/Warpriest (Death Domain)

Assassin's Strike Encounter (Hybrid)
Attack Finesse (Hybrid)
Red Scales Guild; At-Wills - Quick Lunge + Poisoned Dagger
Poison Use (Hybrid)

Healer's Lore
Healing Word (Hybrid)
Domain At Will - Death's Shadow
Domain Channel Divinity - Inevitable Doom

That would probably work nicely.
