Half-Price Books . . . your source for liquidated books!

EDIT: I just now noticed the line that said "Great Opening November 9." So I guess I'm completely off the hook now.

Not only that, but if you're there on opening day you'll have first pick of the game books they've been squirreling away for the new store. It goes against to reason to assume they would open a new store without feathering the nest a bit, to make the store look like something people should visit regularly.

To find good stuff at HPB is a lot like shopping at a thrift store. If you make it part of your weekly ritual, you can find just about everything comes through their doors at least once.

Here's some of the things I've seen recently at the main store in Dallas:
* Decades of Dragon Magazines
* About 30 first edition modules still in great condition
* Complete game lines like CoC first edition

When I was a big time comic buyer back in the 1980s my two biggest purchases from HPBs were a nearly complete run of the Mighty Thor from 1966 to 1969 and a five year run of the Legion of Super-Heroes from the 1970s.

The Half-Priced bookstore is actually not only on the way home from work, but it's across the street from my bank where I have to do some business.
That sounds dangerous. Money + Bookstore = Broke

No HPB store here. Just Powell's books. www.powells.com Lots of used books. They ship, too.

Alas, no HPB in my area. Closest thing we have is the Friends of the Library bookstore. No huge buys like the entire CoC line, but once in a while some nifty RPG bitz show up. I grabbed (off the top of my head) a 1st edition Traveller book, a 1e Monstrous Manual, and a Monstrous Compendium binder from there. And the best part is that the prices are really low - I think the max I've paid for any book there was $5; the Traveller book was around $3.

Thanks for the info! Just went out and picked up Five Nations and Explorer's Handbook!

(I almost picked up the 1st edition AD&D PHB they had... but maintained control... for now.)

The store on the south side of Indy still had 3-4 basic sets as well.
