Half-Troll?

I have a very clever friend who has come up with a quite imaginative story of his mother being raped by a troll making him a half-troll, I was thinking of using the [FONT=&quot]Troll Bloodline stats, but neither one sound like what he or I want. Any suggestions?

Agreed, provided you (as the DM) and the player do not mind the ECL adjustment. Check out the 3.5 update booklet that WoTC has on their site for an updated version of it.

Well, you're going to have a LA unless you wish to forego fast healing.

I was in the same position a couple of years ago, so I whipped up a 5-level 'racial class' roughly based on Fiend Folio and Savage Species. It seemed to work well enough while that game lasted. It was certainly not perfectly balanced (wasn't totally outrageous, either), but this was one of my best players, who I trusted implicitly not to abuse it.

How strong does the Troll part have to be? If you want to have him as a +0 or +1 race you could go:

+2 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence, - 2 Charisma
A half troll's base land speed is 30 feet.
Dark-vision 30 feet, Lowlight vision
Fast Healing 5, cannot heal fire or acid damage normally.
Scent
Automatic Languages: Common, Giant. Bonus Languages: Any.
Favored Class: Fighter.
Level adjustment +1.

Fast Healing is not as good as Regeneration, but more PC appropriate and once could argue for the watering down of inherited traits. If you want Regeneration I would suggest no more than 1 or 2.

You could add either Racial Levels or Feats to allow the PC to become more Troll like.

1 fast healing 1, natural armor +1, bite d6, claws d4, +2 Str, +2 Con
2 fast healing 2, natural armor +2, rend (2d4 + 1 1/2 Str bonus), +2 Str, +2 Con
3 fast healing 3, natural armor +3, +2 Con
4 fast healing 5, natural armor +4, +2 Str, +2 Dex
