WotBS Halfling Orphan

I have a PC who's a halfling orphan. Where are there communities of halflings that his family might have originated from? The party is currently going to Seaquen and I want to try to interweave his backstory into the travel.

From the player's guide page 16:
Found mostly along the rivers and byways of Ostalin and Sindaire, the halflings of the lands sometimes leave the west in search of adventure and treasure. Though once halflings were generally quite well traveled, the unrest in Ostalin has concentrated the population in that country because it presents the best hope for them to start a nation of their own. As the country continues in strife, the halflings work with some factions in Sindaire to destabilize the kingdom even further.

There is maybe one halfling I recall putting in the whole AP, and he's very earnest, honestly. But as is the case with the wee folk, I appear to have mostly overlooked them.

So you'll have to add stuff. I might suggest to have Seaquen be founded originally by halflings. You could say the wizards of Lyceum set up the academy there because they felt like they could trust halflings to not grow power-hungry and threaten them, and so the wizards got the benefit of a friendly community (who could fish and farm and do small crafts), while the halflings got protection.

Hell, you could even make Simeon a halfling, if you want. He's already got a folksy, salt of the earth (and maybe a little in over his head) vibe.

The monestary of two winds is between Ostilin and Sindair. Does the AP go there at some point? Maybe I can tie it in there...
Yes, in adventure 5. Check the timeline in the campaign guide. I would recommend reading the rest of the campaign as you are able, even if it is just the introduction at the beginning of each adventure. EN Publishing's campaigns reward you richly for having that extra bit of preparation.

Also, for when you do get to adventure 5, I recommend taking a read of my thread where I did some (incomplete) brainstorming on how to make that adventure feel a little more interesting, and to make the characterization of Pilus more compelling.

I totally agree with reading the campaign in total to get a better overall idea of what is happening where. I admit that I skimmed the publications, went back and read the summaries, and still missed quite a few opportunities to foreshadow events and build in backstories.

Going back and reviewing the upcoming modules has helped in framing the events to the party and giving news which has future relevance to their actions. It also has helped draw them into the story much deeper than any other connection I have been able to make with just them backstories and pre-campaign meetings with notable NPCs.
