Hallucinogens - Rules for Poisons

Oomancer

First Post
Has anybody seen any rules for the effects of hallucinogenic posions, such as LSD? I could inmagine the victim being, dazzled, dazed, taking Wisdom damage - or worse.

For the sake of simplicity, I'd run it as straight wis damage.

The reduction in will saves, the penalties to sensory skills, and lower 'common sense' all are results from the halucinations. You have a hard time resisting that compulsion spell because the line between internal and external influence is really fuzzy for you right now. You're having a hard time seeing that guy hiding behind the curtains because you're a tad distracted by the walls melting and your fingers melding and splitting from one another.

Just make sure to describe the effects colorfully and you're set.

I'd probably just make it have the same effect as a Confusion spell. (I use a similar poison in my campaigns - a dust that is thrown in the face of victims, makes them hallucinate wildly).

Since I can't seem to find where I put my BoVD, I'll just ask; doesn't the Book of Vile Darkness detail such things?
BoVD details addictive poisons. Something like LSD, which isn't addictive, would work fine using the standard poison rules. Of course, Wis damage probably doesn't cover it. I'd start throwing on conditions. I would probably have it, on a failed Fort save vs. poison, cause the character to become Staggered, and each minute require the character to make a will save or become Fascinated. Duration 1d4+6 hours.

This is how I might do it:

Primary (Fort Save): d4 Wis damage
Secondary (Will Save): Confusion effect, lasting Wis damage # of hours.

I'd go with a Confusion effect myself, except that half the results of the Confused condition involve attacking people, and while that might be appropriate for someone out of their head on PCP, LSD mostly incapacitates you, and isn't the sort of thing that drives one to violence. People on LSD get really introspective, disassociated, and sometimes have personality crises. Also, they dance in a really characteristic way that lets you spot the acid-heads at a party.

That's why I went with Fascinated instead of Confused. Less Helter-Skelter, more navel-gazing.
