(nb the DMG would, rather bizarrely, only give you a -2 penalty to some skills for having no hands. That's what comes of trying to mix abstract hit points with concrete wounds... they still haven't come up with an adequate way around that)

We should start a club. My gnome lost his hand years ago to that exact trap. He was a Illusionist/thief/fighter. Yeah a 2 weapon fighter. Luckily the paladin was standing besdie me to lay hands.

For a while I just sat on a street corner playing the Blues one handedly. Of course it was my right hand and I was right handed. Isn't it nice. I lost from the elbow down. I looked at my severed hand and passed out. When I woke some characters had tied a stick to my stumpy elbow with stick fingers tied on... not funny.

You have my sympathy.

yes, regenerate would work. of course, it is lvl 7 = at least 13th lvl caster.

only damage/loss of limbs taken while wearing the ring is regenerated.

I think stumpy needs to be retired to a clerical position... oh wait, you need hands for THAT kind of clerical position, too.

Ask your DM if you can blow a feat to learn to cast spells with your stump knives doing the somatic components. Or better yet, make them Stump-Maces! Now that's a cool image in my head.
