Well if you are on the Autoship you will get a discount when you buy the material. How much is still uncertain to me because I am involved with all the latest Hârnstuff and I get the items for free that way (plus payment of course). Dunir from the first issue of HârnQuest was my writing and mapping...

Nice to know that people liked it. :)

Just like to point out that while Patrick is about to publish a D20 Hârn Guide, there already is a D20 Hârn Guide (and it's even titled The D20 Hârn Guide!) but it's very different than what Patrick intends to publish (from what I hear).

The new guide will be akin to the Wheel of Time D20 book, where magic, spells, rules, classes, etc, are different than in D&D 3E. The current D20 Hârn Guide is about using D&D 3E with HârnWorld. You can get the current version at the site in my sig.

Actually, Patrick, I thought Dunir Keep was great, just like your free DLs at S&S, but even prettier. I just wish that the published Harn products went into as much detail as Dunir---not that they don't go into a lot of detail already, but an average of 6 pages vs 22 is a lot, LOL. I also enjoyed all the artwork in Dunir; it was more art-heavy than previous Harn products, and that made it seem cooler (even if it did inflate the page count). Great job! :)

HarnManor gives you everything you need to know to run medieval agricultural communities, including 4 sample sites, and complete system to calculate income/expenses, taxes/wages for everybody! Plus you will really know what it is like to live in places like that, right down to the last detail, including recipes for ale! :)

Why in the hell would I want to know the recipe for an imaginary mug of ale? Or complete taxes or wages for everyone?

Since when have adventures paid taxes? Or does it include medieval tax forms for adventures? Swords might be deductable, y'know ;)

What a lame comment man, really... You know how much strong good ale I have gotten out of this recipe? Man I am constantly drunk and having a ball. HârnManor was it for me, the way to have fun, not Greyhawk or Scarred Lands. ;)

You game as a lord? If you do then this is it no matter how dull it may seem to those "unenlightened". Otherwise stick to your swords and sorcery stuff, you don't need it there, that is a fact. HârnManor is of course for those gaming lords or making up manors with this fact in mind. Some do you know, even if there are few of us. Then again I also game swords and sorcery.

Since when have adventures paid taxes?

In the abyssal and celestial gaming with a touch of no-right, then yes they never pay taxes. However even in Forgotten Realms or Hârn kingdoms, cities and and even villages must pay taxe for soldiers, officials, and others to exist. Hell, no city would survive without taxes. Adventurers should pay taxes in some way or another. At the gate or the hand of a corrupted DM makes no difference, taxes must be paid. <evil grin>

I have a better one. Look up in the employment office the work labeled adventurers. Tell me how many applications you need to fill out. I would love to be an adventurer. Instead I have to get up five in the morning to get to my work. Damn if I only was an adventurer and slayed dragons for a living that would be great. What school do I have to go to to become one...?

To getting to the real part here since 99% of the above was asked and given in jest. Hârn has all these things including an abyss. What Hârn does however better than most, if not all, is to make it more believable and add spice such as HârnManor for those wanting to game with such devices. Far better than gaming the same stuff all over for the umptenth time.

BTW, the d20 Hârn Guide that CVT is working on for S&S will be released after summer. But why wait? For thsoe who never seen it try out Shane's guide. Address above in his Shadow of Bukrai posting.
