Trailer Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Season 1) trailer

GreyLord

Legend

Didn't see this posted yet.

The biggest thing that sort of annoyed me was that the scar over the eye wasn't that noticeable. It didn't seem like it should...and if they can't get that right...

It also seems like they stole some of the scenes shot for shot from the movies.

Everything seems to be right and yet...slightly off at the same time. Not sure how I feel about it. I'm afraid it may be an absolute disaster. Too many comparisons to the movies.

I think the series can go more in depth to the books and be truer to the books, but I'm also afraid they will take far more liberties and actually stray further...not sure.

The aunt seems right...probably more true to the books than the movies were. That's a good sign.

Still concerned about the scar.

Not super interested in watching it. HP was big part of my childhood, both books and movies and 15 years is too soon for new version, specially since movies are still pretty popular. For me and much of my generation, original cast will always be faces of those characters.

I really hope they nail magic of the books in the series and make it decent for new generations. With series, they have much more space to go into details from books that movie cut out due to length constrains. They have great source material, just hope they stick to it as much as possible.

As a GenXer rather than millenial, I can't say HP means much to me, personally. But I understand its popularity, and I feel bad for those torn between their love of a formative series and their desire not to support its creator. Every generation has some of that.

I am sure there are ways to have both with this series....

Sadly it’s obvious that JKR would like more money and thus more adaptations, this time with actors who won’t criticise her personal views and actions. Sadly, because of her views and actions, I have no interest in watching this.

(And - personal opinions about media ahoy! - I've never been much of a HP fan. I appreciate its impact on expanding fantasy fandom and making some readers happy, but it's always struck me as deeply parochial and unimaginative - The Worst Witch via Jennings and it's frankly a much better use of one's time to read either of those instead. OK, Jennings is pretty repetitive but at least you're hitting the source material.)

She's worth somewhere between 1.5-2 billion dollars. Someone would assume that's enough money to last you a few life times. I know, it's idealistic view.

As for her view, i'm not touching that with 11 foot pole. I'm just sad that magical world created by her is "tainted".

As we all know to the world's detriment, no money is enough money for some people. Once you get into that 0.1% bracket, you can realise quickly how much more money than you some others have - there's as much disparity within the 1% as within the 99% globally.

But also, JKR wants and needs money for her personal crusades, and also wants and needs the fame and relevance that makes her personal crusades more powerful. So yes, any money and success I give her now goes directly to those crusades. And that is something I find deeply repugnant, so that's not happening.
