Trailer Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Season 1) trailer

Sadly it’s obvious that JKR would like more money and thus more adaptations
Yeah I'm sure it was just Rowling, she forced this down the studios throats....I'm sure they were begging her not to do this.

Come on all. Money to be made, people are going to make it. We have been in the land of reboots for a long while now, hell 15 years is honestly getting long in reboot land, they have rebooted things shorter than that. This has nothing to do with Rowling, at least not directly. Studios have learned they can reboot properties and make a lot of money...very few properties have been immune to it.

We are about due for a Lord of the Rings reboot -- which I don't want (although I would absolutely rush out to see delToro's Hobbit adaptation if it got made).

Oh, of course the studios and publishers are very happy to do this, the property isn’t being milked properly otherwise. But there’s every indication that JKR is driving the recent renaissance and remakes in adaptations personally.

Despite personal feelings, let's try to center this more on the series than who originally originated the ideas (they do not need to be named).

I'm cautiously hoping they keep this more true to the books, but I'm also skeptical that they will with how Hollywood likes to change things...ala...Wheel of Time...ala...Rings of Power...etc...etc...etc.

So it's cool to promote the series and Rowling has made it clear you then support her, but not cool to be opposed? Both stances are political, clearly. 100 percent.

should have made this a + thread

I think it’s quite hard to separate the artist from their art at the best of times - what you know about them has to affect how you enjoy or interpret their art.

If we knew that GRR Martin was an abusive partner and parent, for instance, I think that would colour how we read Game of Thrones, and change whether we chose to read it. If we knew that Tolkien had been a Nazi sympathiser and had helped fund the BUF, I think we’d then have to interpret The Lord of the Rings very differently. This isn’t really any different.

(Thankfully I don’t think we know either of those things to be true, AFAIK.)

Oh God no, Colbert’s fanfic looks like a bad enough idea, honestly. Just let them stand for a while.

OTOH, I’m very inconsistent and am totally on board for a Star Wars reboot. Preferably while Ehrenreich and Glover are young enough to be on board.

I would be happy with a re-do of the Prequels, but make it jive more with ANH. Also keep HC and EM.
