It can be done. So far, The Pitt has managed to do seasson a year. 8 episodes per season isn't that much, so it's realistic to keep it on yearly release schedule. Child actors grow up fast, specially in that preteen to teen years.

Remember when 23-26 episodes a year was the norm? A show based around kids would be hard to pull of like that though.

Never really liked the books, didn't like the movies, hate the author and her views, will be actively discouraging people in my life from watching and supporting this. There are so many other wonderful stories out there!

The Pitt's main cast are all adults and that means adult workdays (which for a weekly series can be pretty long). Child actors complicate the issue and slow down production - it's one of the reasons casting twins for really young characters is so common. Recently I learned just how heavily the Potter movies made use of stand-ins for the child actors to extend the shooting day and stay within child actor regulations. If you're seeing one of the principal child characters from behind in a shot, there's a surprisingly good chance you're seeing their stand-in.

Harry Potter has always fascinated me in that if you remove the author out of the equation, it could be interpreted as one of the most trans positive stories ever written. Good grief, it's a kid who's considered "not normal" by his family who finds a hidden, colorful, magical world once leaving his closet. Reading about her activism was certainly a curve ball for me.
