Wow, $59 a word! As a translator, the most I've ever been paid is EUR 0.27 a word. On the other hand, you'd think that for that money she'd have done a better job of proofreading the typed-up version. There's at least one word there that I wouldn't have paid for.

On a slightly less jealous note, it's not a bad little story. Not really much else you can say about it.

She did not get it typed up. Someone got a hold of the original postcard, and translated it themselves. According to the transcriber, "I had a number of problems reading her handwriting. Especially the "g" and "f" letters."

The transcriber wished to remain anonymous.
