Some amount of revision may be necessary to keep consistency, anyway. At the end of year 4, Harry, having seen someone die, is tasked by his friends to look out for the horseless carriages.

At the beginning of year 5, Harry sees that the carriages are not that horseless, but the thestrals can only be seen by someone having seen death.

That's just the most blatant. There are others (like the cost of the Daily Prophet being 5 coins in year 1, and only 1 coin afterwards -- unless there's a discount for students?).

The question is, would you buy the books again for the revision?

I would not, the story is set and I don't care if the dialog is better or a few descriptions spiced up, I am happy with the books I currently have.
