D&D 4E Has the 4E Announcement Changed Your Buying Plans?

I'll probably troll ebay for 3.5 stuff but won't be buying anything new except perhaps the Rules Compendium provided I like what I see in it.

Beyond that, just pathfinder and whatever Gamemastery modules show up that I like, and save up some nickels for the 4E books next year (going on the assumption that Pathfinder and Gamemaster will be 4E eventually).

Since I might actually like 4E, there is a now within the next year a nonzero chance of me buying stuff from WOTC. So, I have already thought about setting a bit of money aside in case I decide to get 4E.

Which is kind of cool. Aside from maybe getting some C&C stuff an picking up a few OOP old school items, I haven't really had much room in my budget for role playing. It was pretty much all Flames of War up to this point. :)

I've stopped cold. Luckily I was running behind and am not going to bother with the 3.5 books I was going to get. I'm fairly excited as I loved the ToB (minus desert wind and a couple of other things) and it seems like 4e will have elements of that book. I'm hoping it has the best elements of ToB however. I'm going to try to just buy the core books. I spent waaay too much on 3.5 *I had sworn I would never buy any 3.5 books after I spent so much $ on 3.0* Sounds a little bit like history repeating…

Yes.

It won't affect my planned purchase of Expedition to the Ruins of Castle Greyhawk.

However, my possible purchase of various books that I've been putting off buying (Complete Champion, Complete Scoundrel, Complete Mage, various Eberron books, MMIV and MMV) are now much less likely.

I was going to get City of Brass and Expedition to the Ruins of Castle Greyhawk. However, since I doubt I will get through my current 3.5 material backlog in two years time, I decided to cancel those.

From now on, I'll only be buying 3.5 books that are 57%-off the MSRP, as opposed to my usual 41%-off target.

I will have to see what my gaming situation is when Goodman Game's mega module comes out. I'd like to get it but unless I see it at Amazon.com or something for a decent discount... might be a hard pill to swallow for a near obsolete edition. (Heck, I wonder if Joe can reschdule it to be 4th ed rules and have it come out when 4th ed comes out. That would be AWESOME!)
Goodman had this at GenCon, and we brought back a few, so too late for them to change it. But it should keep a gaming group busy until the Core three come out next year.

I'm still planning on buying the Rules Compendium but was not planning on picking up any other RPG stuff this year. Though that was my plan even without hearing about 4e. The 4e announcement has not changed any of my buying plans.

Has the 4E Announcement Changed Your Buying Plans?

No, not really. I wasn't going to invest in many more Wizards books anyway. I'm still investing in Pathfinder and GameMastery modules from Paizo, because I'll be able to use the campaigns and adventures with 4E anyways, if only for their plots.

I guess the timing on that side of things was good for me.

No.

I'm still going to buy City of Brass and unless some Steam / Gear / Alchemy product comes out that knocks my socks off I expect that's all I'm going to buy until May '08.
